How many times have we seen an asisstant coach get promoted to head coach and fail. The skills of a great asisstant don’t necessarily transfer to a great head coach. I’m nit sure what the essential skills of a great head coach are, but we clearly have stuck out a couple of times with Frank and Bo. Although each had great records when they were here, they lacked one essential skill of getting along with powers inside and outside the university. So far Frost, even though he was a head coach for two years, has demonstrated a lot of skill in the area of internal and external public relations. Of course, he is coming home to incredible fan adulation from a fan base starved to go back to the future. He has surrounded himself with a staff he knows and trusts, so internal conflicts and duplicity that exists in most organizations will not deter him from his mission. Im sure there are other qualities like player relations, recruiting etc. but I’ll be interested what everyone has to say.
