Offense? Maybe a touch.
Defense? LOL you're kidding right?
Special Teams? Not really - but hasn't been that bad

It's going to take at least a few years until Riley has HIS recruits in here and the special teams statistics don't change.

I think injuries negate any ability to judge here

Let's be comfortable with being competitive , give Mike and his staff credit For what they have been able to overcome

There has been improvement in personal on offense since BYU. If we use Cross and Janovich on 3rd and short in that game we win . What we see in penalties is pretty much normal for Riley's teams. They always finish in the bottom 3rd.
On defense you either have to believe we have the least talented secondary in College football or the worst scheme. We have been exposed and have not come up with an answer.

When do they replace Armstrong. It's right about now according to everything we heard all off-season. I am curious when that change will be made.

Huh? I heard literally nothing about replacing Tommy as the starting quarterback in game 5.

I am not making excuses. We're terrible on pass defense, lack of a pass rush, and getting turnovers. But the injuries have been ridiculous so far, and with no break in our schedule, we will be playing walk-ons everywhere. Top 3 LB's sitting, 2 DT's, etc. Let's face it - we don't have that winning edge right now and we're not talented enough (except 2 or 3 positions) or deep enough to overcome it. Any team left on our schedule has the ability to beat us. We will be extremely fortunate enough to go to a bowl.

1. No
2.The passing game yes.
3.The run defense yes.
4.Push

Talking about those who were so smart they knew Tommy would suck in a pro style offense... There were plenty questioning if he was up to the task, questioning his ability to be a good decision maker, cut down on turnovers... Those same people have been quiet about Tommy. Hmmm...

I would count getting Davies off the field an improvement. We played one good half of defense and one bad half of defense.

Offense has gotten better game to game. The running game hasn't been as good as last year but ameer covered a lot of deficiencies newby can't.

Special teams haven't been that bad. Blocks happen.

Penalties are bad but it takes time to fix a culture issue from the previous staff.

Tommy and the receivers are currently bringing home the groceries.
Passing D is on a milk carton. It's officially a concern.
Like Jano toting the ball.

Offense no - still to committed to the pass - as games get tougher they will go even further to the dark side based on what I have seen - regressed
Defense - worst job of defensive coaching in along time
Special teams - not that bad? how about unprepared for the onside kick and fake punk - Read is a liability

Im suppressed they can't figure out how to have these 2 guys plow a few yards out on third and short from time to time.

Special teams is a huge disappointment. Shoulda been ready for an onside and the fake punt they should have converted. Thank goodness we were more talented than southern miss. Why the hell do we have a special teams coordinator and this happens?

We won't truly be able to gauge the run defense until a few games into the conference schedule. Why should teams worry about running when they can pass all day on us? Also, Miami didn't have any problems running on Nebraska. Their starting tailback averaged close to 7.5 yards per carry. BYU had 132 yards rushing, averaging 5 per carry, and probably would have had more if it wasn't for Hill getting injured. Let's look at run defense after the Wisconsin game. Winking

I'd say they caught on. They've been the go two guys the last couple of games. I just wish they would have caught on in the last series against BYU.

I like Riley and this coaching staff as men.
I also think they are good teachers and coaches.
But I do not believe this is a championship staff.
I am NOT a fan of Bo!!!

That being said, injuries to the defense gives them a pass this week.
Offense is what bothered me today.
Drew Brown is improving.

Penalties? If we were dominating, and they were "aggressiveness" or "smart" penalties, I would turn a blind eye. Otherwise, I don't see improvement.
Offense? I think we're looking better, don't have any stats to back it up though.
Defense? Ummm, errrr.
Special Teams? Not good, but not bad.

I think we are getting better, but we should be getting exponentially better as the players are picking up schemes. We seem to be living or dying by the pass, and that may just be inherent to this offense.

Yeah that one punt punt day was just horrid offense.

Come again??

We are unprepared for the onside kick and were darn lucky they did not do it again when they scored as we were still not lined up to stop that - we then were caught with our pants down on the fake field goal and were lucky on the play

Was I talking about special teams? You are truly sad. The end is near, and you may be better off just swallowing the business end of a 12 gauge. Problem solved for you, and saves the world from another mouth-breathing bloner.

It was a fake punt not FG

That would be on special teams. The reference to the offense is regressing doesn't hold much water when we only punt once. Does that clear up the "come again"?

Sorry I meant Snohomishred, must have been auto correct. You and your like are typical, we would be 2-2 or worse with BO pull your head out. We have a very thin D and nobody can deny that, is that current staff problem?

Rule #2 when in doubt blame Pelini

Of course we are thin is that then become acceptable for what we have seen from our pass defense. Also we are not thin on secondary we should be better

This staff was hired and touted they could develop talent get more from less - now the Mantra is just wait til they get some of their recruits. All this against a back drop where they are not recruiting really well - they are doing ok but certainly not lights out

If you think we have the time and this staff has the time to blow this completely up and start from scratch - I just do not see that happening. This program needs to win now next year it gets even tougher schedule wise

Might as well move along. Red is one of those Husker fans that thinks if you're not running 70 percent of the time it means you're not running at all. The guy doesn't really deal with facts or stats. That's been evident with his statements thus far. The guys pissed this offense is balanced as can be.

What I see is an OC wanting to call his game but can't because of what players are available. Some plays are working but it's a work in progress. Tommy has gotten better on his quick passes.

Defense is injured and thin. Hopefully gets better as season goes on

we are playing with what Bo left. It isn't the NFL where you can turnover a team via free agency. Yes I want to see better execution but changing scheme can be tough. I never touted this staff to be miracle workers. I think they will recruit their players and better talent. Hell tommy is 2x what he was last year.

Facts or Stats huh - do you really want to talk stats from the first 4 games? lets start with total defense ranking or maybe pass efficiency defense

We only ran the ball close to 40 times today.....waaaaaaas. Somebody call the wambulance. This staff is just all passing! waaaa. If we don't run the option or 80 percent of the time it means we are not committed to the run. Waaaaa

Oh lets see - we are scoring less this year than last and the year before - we have gone from 19th in rushing to 71st - we are similar in total offense but as many coaches will tell you a rushing yard is worth more than a passing yard in regards to scoring and we are seeing this - all before we play the toughest defenses on our schedule

Then we are 105th in total defense - In 2007 we finished 109th in total defense - yes we are that bad this year
