Haarburg Poll on why you think he should start

Why do you think Haarburg should start?

I predict Sims will start this weekend. I also predict this board will go into meltdown mode and say a bunch of derogatory comments about how smart the coaches are, how much we pay them, who needs to be fired, etc. After the game, you will either see that Sims lit up a lesser team, similar to HH, or Sims fumbled around and got benched, HH came in and carried it home. I don't believe either QB will lose us this game, but it will be good to see Sims at home against much lesser competition. I also believe we will see both QBs in the game no matter the score.

From there decisions get harder. IF Sims plays well. If he plays bad against inferior talent, coaches need to roll with HH against Michigan. Will they? No idea.

If Rhule starts Sims he had better hope he plays lights out and is turnover free.

Rhule risks losing most of the goodwill he spent the off-season successfully building up with this one decision.
Pretty sure this is being a little overly dramatic.

Will this board lose its crap? Yep. Will he lose the rest of the fan base? Nope.

Year 1, people. Year 1.

Yeah people will be upset, but likely Sims sucks and just gets benched during the game and Rhule can use the "I don't bench guys due to injury" and build goodwill within the team. Haarburg will start the Michigan game and the rest of the year.

I get Frost was a Husker darling. I loved him as a player too, but it is crazy to see the different standards on here. Frost was given a free pass for years. Even during year 4 when the team went 3-9 he was defended by most "since the games were close."

Am guessing he's using an 'injury' designation here in his favor here to give him some options... Fans were demanding HH and Sims in the home opener would've been a nonstarter, but having him 'injured' (looked fine taking reps) gives Rhule an excuse to put him right back in. They'll play both of em going forward, until someone gets injured. Someone will. Or maybe both, with our luck.

I'm not sure yet. If Sims is healthy he's starting . The ? is how many turnovers does he commit before he gets pulled....I can hear it now ...Jeff is still dealing with injuries, he's not 100%. He was a little rusty....

There should be a Purdy should start option. I mean in his one play on Saturday, we did score. 😂😂😂😂 But in all seriousness, with the injuries in the backfield they should try and find a way to get both HH and JS on the field. I think that is what they will do, not sure we will see it this weekend though.

Hey, guess who Georgia Tech lost to in '21 with Sims at QB? Correct - NIU. Check out the great Sims highlight below and tell me if you want this guy starting over HH. Jeeezus, why is this even a topic of conversation? News flash, if Sims plays last Saturday we lose the game. You can think otherwise, but the known facts are not up for debate.

I think we will see both QBs in our games going forward. This would be primarily to compensate for the loss of Johnson and Ervin.
I believe it would also make it necessary for opposing defenses to have to account for our QBs on most plays. Having two big, powerful and fast dual-threat QBs (who can spell each other) night help wear down defenses.

It’s like some posters have amnesia. The crazy thing about Sims’ turnovers are they are unforced. It’s him just dropping balls and then having a bad case of butter fingers and can’t pick up the ball.

I would almost bet the line in Vegas is different if Sims or HH is starting.
Soon as they announce Sims, the line drops, as it should.

it'd be difficult to argue sims is a better player than Haarberg at this point, 1 single start in to HH's career.

"potential", "upside", "ceiling" are not arguments, they're opinions

So long as nobody calls one who has the actual medical condition, what's the beef?
Using that logic, it is ok to call a white guy the N word. The term is used to make fun of people who aren't mentally disabled. No different that calling people gay. Again there are other insults that can be used that aren't insulting to other people.

I would say the only argument or opinion that matters is Rhule's.

Wouldn't it be more difficult to argue Haarberg is the better player based on 1 single start?

not at all

Haarberg showed he can do - at minimum - exactly what Sims can as a 4th year starter

I say things are gay too. It is l guess I'm 12 lol.

I DO make a conscious effort when around folks who that would be wrong in context though. Way different than the N word that has a literal history of pain, persecution, and whatnot. That's just my opinion though.

I think there is a lot to weigh, but some of this is hard because it has been only 3 games, but Sims has continued to just be the guy he has always been.

HH - Seems to make the better reads when running the read option. There has been a number of times where Sims should have pitched the ball or should have run it, but has made the wrong read. HH seems to be making the correct read most of the time. He also doesn't turn it over and that is the major key. His downfalls as he doesn't seem to be quite the homerun threat Sims is in the running game and also seems to run very early instead of waiting to find a receiver. Both Sims and HH stare down receivers.

Sims - Threw some decent passes that were just flat out dropped by Fidone and some of our WR's that killed drives where we were moving. Turnover machine that just seems to lack confidence.

I know the coaches see way more than we do, but I think you just have to ride HH until he makes mistakes at the same clip as Sims. I would like to see Sims against weaker competition to just get a little bit of a base, but man he really squandered some stuff against a really bad CU D. That game still pisses me off because CU's D line is not better than NIU
