Oh I agree, he was never going to sit and watch, he needs to play and until I hear otherwise from coach Rhule I feel Thompson was always going to be an insurance plan for Nebraska this year. It's going to an interesting year to see how much development happens with the back ups. We are always going to see QB's hit the portal with the new transfer rules in place, it's a new era in college sports like it or not.Thompson needs this year to get as much play on tape as possible. He needs to go somewhere where he can walk into the starting rule, based on his skills and past work. I don’t blame him. He’s hoping to put up a ton of yards next fall and possibly get drafted or worst case get invited to some camps.
I am firmly in the ‘or not’ camp, but it is what it isOh I agree, he was never going to sit and watch, he needs to play and until I hear otherwise from coach Rhule I feel Thompson was always going to be an insurance plan for Nebraska this year. of course you won't. because you agree with me, and said as much 5 months ago in a thread you titled 'We Are A Developmental Program"I’m not gonna crap on Haarberg just to beef with you. The consensus in this thread is that we don’t see the upside as much as you do. Everyone pretty much agrees that he has size and athleticism. The sample size is too small to predict his passing ability which is very raw. So far, we are pretty underwhelmed.
Based on how thin our QB room is all of a sudden, his number may get called called. The staff is going to attempt to develop him, of course, but I believe they will recruit over him.
take your own advice - EMBRACE ITTrev said it yesterday, and we all know it down deep. It's not a bad thing, and it's always been the case here, even during the championship years.
Embrace it. Don't expect freshman to be all conference. Bring them in, coach them up, build them up and turn them loose.
So you appear to be the world's foremost expert on HH. Let's say Sims breaks his leg on August 1st. What would we see out of HH? Let's see some stats and wins predictions. I need to get this on record.those are purdy's stats

It would be no different if Sims had never came and it's Thompson who gets injured. This not a very uncommon situation for any high school, college or professional team that the back up will most always be a a huge question mark.So you appear to be the world's foremost expert on HH. What’s best for Nebraska is probably Sims lighting it up and us getting a top portal guy next year.thanks, dad
if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen
I want what's best for Nebraska & am happy to share my opinions about it. I am also the first person to admit when I'm wrong when indeed that's the case.
I don't take anything anyone says here personally. it's quite clear that's not the case for everyone, which I find delightful.
I am still laughing at the Lamar Jackson thread 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
(I also put $200 on the japanese horse to win tomorrow at +1100)
Fair enough. I'm excited about him also. No, just a person who can recognize potential
I didn’t elevate HH from obscurity to #2 on the depth chart. Coach Rhule did.
No doubt about itWhat’s best for Nebraska is probably Sims lighting it up and us getting a top portal guy next year.
HH developing into one of the top available guys in the country is certainly possible, but probably far less likely than Rhule getting a more consistent performer to transfer in.
Touche!of course you won't. because you agree with me, and said as much 5 months ago in a thread you titled 'We Are A Developmental Program"

Coming from the guy who loathed CT for whatever reason and wantec Purdy as THE guy...lmaoI think there is a real chance that Sims is no where near as good as CT was, and that could become obvious to the fan base after a few games this season.
If that happens, where does Rhule go from there? Maybe HH gets some 'Tebow time' this season?
might be interesting.
PreciselyIf HH plays significant downs for us this year, our bowl eligibility is at risk (which it might be anyway...who knows in May).
and the same guy who told you Martinez wasn't the answer when you all were talking heisman..Coming from the guy who loathed CT for whatever reason and wantec Purdy as THE guy...lmao
Pretty good, if you ask me (the first guy to tell you purdy stinks & therefore infinitely more credible than most)and the same guy who told you Martinez wasn't the answer when you all were talking heisman..
Also, I didn't say I was a CT fan, just that there is a chance that Sims is not as good, and if that turns out to be true, then how does that reflect on coach Rhule and what his options are for the season with HH.
They were searching for a corner last year and a true frosh was the answer.Fair enough. I'm excited about him also.
I think one of the top reasons Nebraska has sucked for years is that we cannot get our hidden or even not hidden players situational and position moves, weird loyalty and doghouses. If were losing, give someone else at least a f*cking shot.
Which is why I'm leery of HH. We were desperately searching for qb too. And even with D-3 level qb play the coaches still wouldn't give HH a shot. They were searching for a corner last year and a true frosh was the answer.
The dad in the stands of the kid who doesn’t play…Pretty good, if you ask me (the first guy to tell you purdy stinks & therefore infinitely more credible than most)
I am with you on the value of HH and can see him being used like Tebow was. That is a possibility that most people are discounting and you have to give the staff props for seeing the talent there when others did not.Pretty good, if you ask me (the first guy to tell you purdy stinks & therefore infinitely more credible than most)
And unlike Callahan Rhule didn't hire his college roommate as DC.Unlike Callahan Rhule is more easy with the media and fans and unlike Callahan Rhule is trying hard to get to know the Nebraska way of working and playing. Rhule is very smart, he knows it's the only way to really succeed starting day one, he has truly embraced the way of life in Nebraska. jmo
Smothers entered the portal. The last staff screwed Smothers and Purdy. They will be great with the new staff.
Our favorite bad movie and favorite Saturday morning cartoon.what in hell else is there to talk about?
I very well may be wrongThe dad in the stands of the kid who doesn’t play…
Can’t be wrong.
I would change it to:I very well may be wrong
but not yet
fairI would change it to:
“I very well may be right
but not yet.”
