Gus Malzahn resigns to be FSU OC

Make the same or more money and not be responsible for recruiting and being a CEO of an entire roster in the NIL era. Good decision.
With the big money now in college football, there's been talk in the NFL about coaches moving down to college. College coordinator jobs are attractive IF you do not have to recruit.

It has to be a matter of burn out. Nothing wrong with giving up all that time and energy and still make couple MIL.

It has to be brutal building a relationship with a kid for several years for some last minute deep pocketed donor to flip a kid. The legacy coaches will likely just keep retiring earlier than they wanted to. College football and basketball. Losing guys like Saban, Jay Wright, Coach K, Roy Williams, and soon enough Gundy, Dabo, etc… College football is in a constant state of change, and all will be fine. The playoffs are going to be a gambling, advertising and ratings success across the board.
