Grown men getting autographs at fan day

It's pathetic Randy. I've heard a ton of stories of older guys pushing kids out of the way or cutting in line just to get an autograph. I've never been one to want an autograph as a signature means little to me (other than on my paycheck), so maybe I don't get it. To me, this event should be for kids.

Have you seen sparky? Seriously though, this should be for kids 16 and under not adults.

Wow just wow, seriously?

Should be kids only in the autograph lines. Adults can stand by them to keep an eye on them, but should not be allowed to get autographs.

You're a grown-up, you can afford to buy signed memorabilia if you want it that bad.

I was told on this very board in years past that it is their "right" and to mind my own business. There are a couple autograph shops here in town run by grown men pedalling college kids signatures. Pretty sad way to make a living. Right up there with scalping tickets IMO.

Now, if you are going to run I see something wrong with it. But I don't see any problem with grown men or women getting autographs. I get autographs at sporting events, concerts, etc. It's my hobby. What's wrong with that?

I've said it before on here. My 4 year old daughter was nearly run over by grown men trying to get autographs 6 years ago. Haven't been back, since. It was one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen.
Come on... in Carls defense he was late to his table after he couldn't find his tooter to snort off that skanks back.

I took my son twice...the first year we hit just the wide recievers and DB's tables...he got a bunch of autographs because everyone was in line to get Bubba Starling's autograph. It was still funny to see middle aged men getting 10 items signed...there were signs around to limit how many autographs one could get, but it didn't stop these guys and the players just do it, they don't say anything.

The next time I took my son he only wanted Rex Burkhead's signature on his jersey...we stood in that line the whole time, it barely moved. My son got zero autographs that day. He has never asked to go back.

I used to go every year to take photos to post on the boards. I've never really been interested in collecting autographs, but whatever. The worst I saw was a guy with about a dozen footballs in a bag, and he was asking the players to sign every single one of them. Obviously they were going to end up for sale somewhere. The athletic department finally tried to put a stop to it, because that's hardly a "fan" there to support the team.

Best moment was talking to Jamrog as he sat with the freshmen up in the stands. Realized what a huge jagweed that guy was at least a decade before many others. Sometimes you just have to talk to somebody for a few minutes to realize just how worthless they really are.

Agree on adults getting autographs, but what is wrong with two consenting adults agreeing on a fair price for a ticket?

I guess by scalping I mean the losers approaching me every event I go into, whike I am with my family asking if I have tickets. Yes dumbass, I have tickets. That is why I didn't walk over to you (the guy yelling at passers by) asking to sell or buy.

Scalpers flat out suck. They are the dregs of society. They don't have a job. They are simply taking advantage of fans and driving up prices so many people cannot afford to go at all. Just as bad as scalpers are "fans" who take advantage of fellow fans to make a buck. If you are a true Husker fan, you should not feel right charging another fan an exorbitant amount of money.

I don't understand autographs in general but I could see it if you ran into Bret Farve or something on the golf course. Some of these kids literally just left high school. it's kinda weird but the real idiots are the ones that get 15 things then turn around and sell it on EBay.

Scum bags.

Edit to clarify: Brett Farve was a random name. As a Bears fan, if I ever saw Brett Farve I would tell him to eat my butt for ruining my childhood.

I have bought tickets from scalpers for less than face to 90% of the games I have gone to.

Ummmmm...no. Do you buy stocks? I don't see a big difference. Most of us who do don't care about the companies. We just want to buy low and sell high.

In fairness, I know a few youth pastors at churches that are some of the "adults" that are mentioned here. They show up to get autographs and sell them at our church auctions to raise money for youth mission trips. So there are reasons for some of them to be there. I agree that if you are selling stuff on ebay you need to get a life, but most people aren't in that category.

I guess I feel that stuff is worth what people are willing to pay for it... Nothing wrong with that. Btw, I am not a scalper and don't sell anything either :)

I have long thought this should move to Kid Day vs a Fan Day. Just dont understand the appeal of a name on a piece of paper that causes adults to act like idiots. Had a similar issue about 10 years ago and decided to never return. Was comical to see grown men with handfuls of stuff (dolls, clothes, etc) to be signed.

Or switch up the timing of fan day. Dedicate the first 3 hours to strictly kids with parents, and leave the final hour open to the general public. I don't think the dumbass adults should be able to affect the kids experience at all. Although I think the idea of adults getting autographs is somewhat dumb, in certain circumstances I don't mind it. If you are getting a ball signed for charity or something cool for a Husker room you may have I don't have a huge problem with it. There are probably other means to get that accomplished though. This day should 100% be about the kids.

Jeff always seemed to get a bad rap here and not sure why. He was a walk-on Blackshirt and that earns him some points in my book. He wasn't out front of the camera defending Bo at anytime that I could see....he really cared/cares about the program. I won't comment on what he may think of Bo now but I've known Jeff since High School (so I know I'm biased), but I can assure you, he bleeds Husker red.

I like signed memorabilia as much as the next Husker fan, but I agree with the poster above that the day should be split into a kids time and a general public time. I didn't even know about this when I was young. If a 9-12 year old me was told that I was going downtown to meet the Huskers I'd lose my mind. Those guys were my heroes growing up. Let the kids have their time, and the general public have their time.

I've always felt it a bit odd to put 18-22 year olds on a pedestal in general, but to each their own. These guys can do more than 99% of the population, so to have some form of fandom is probably understandable. I don't mind if a grown man wants to get an autograph from a player. Of course, if they are violating the rules by getting multiple items signed, then they should be shown the door.
