What adaptation of any species is the greatest tool for perpetuating its survival?
I'd go with the human brain if only it were more inclined to make its vessels more thoughtful and tolerant, or at least capable of shutting their mouths when that becomes impossible. These failures are extremely counterproductive imho.
So my vote goes to the lizard. How f'g cool is it that when you grab it by its tail, the tail comes unattached? Then they grow another one. It's way better than a tear-away jersey.
I've seen this first hand several times recently as one of our cats keeps bringing live lizards into the house. He plays with them, clutching them by their tails, which, of course, then come off. Upon which the much shorter lizard runs under our sectional couch that's about a mile long.
I'm not sure what they're all doing down there; perhaps electing a leader and making plans to take over.
