They have the entire game, but I suggest watching from like the 4 minute mark of this one. TO goes for it and Tommie makes it happen!
That's history right there. Was Tommie Frazier's first start or did he come in as a replacement? Either way, that was one hell of a play jumping into the end zone. They have the entire game, but I suggest watching from like the 4 minute mark of this one. TO goes for it and Tommie makes it happen!
His first start. I think he came in against Iowa St. the week before. That's history right there. Was Tommie Frazier's first start or did he come in as a replacement? Either way, that was one hell of a play jumping into the end zone.
Definitely one of the very few times the backup really WAS better than the starter! Was it Mike Grant? His first start. I think he came in against Iowa St. the week before.
Iowa St was several weeks later. His first start. I think he came in against Iowa St. the week before.
Turner Gill, Tom Osborne, Keith Jackson and the Prudential College Scoreboard after the game. Doesn't get any better than that!An even better battle with Missour-rah happened in 1981, Nebraska's version of "the drive."
I'm gonna say without checking that Grant was the QB before giving way to Tommie Frazier. I think Mark Mauer was the starting QB before Gill. Mauer may have started at least some games the year before as well. I think Gill and Fryar both played on the JV team during their freshman year.Definitely one of the very few times the backup really WAS better than the starter! Was it Mike Grant?
Yep. You are correct. Must have been the Okie Light game? Looks like Grant was the starter. My memory fails me, but didn't he take a pretty cheap shot to get hurt?Iowa St was several weeks later.

My recollection is poor performance is what landed him on the bench… I don’t remember him getting hurt. But that was a long time ago and I could be wrong.Yep. You are correct. Yep.
Mickey was the one who got hurt a couple years earlier.
