I was born in small town Nebraska. Moved to NW iowa as a kid. Gained my love of Husker football from my grandpa who took us boys to a fb game every year until my soph year in hs when he passed. Moved to east coast in '99 and have stayed out there with my wife and 3 girls. Love for Huskers is strong as ever and My daughters have bought in....to an extent. But they have never experienced anything to do with Nebraska other than watch a game on tv.

Well, had the chance this year to get my oldest (7th grade, no pics....ever) to the 2nd individual camp session at NU for VB. She has been since wednesday and we are picking her up today. The camp is 12 per day and I thought would wear her out since she is not a huge vb player (only played a year snd does not do aau/travel etc). What an absolutely outstanding experience she has had. The excitement in her voice resonates when she talks to me at night. Loves the coaches, the players (Tiani is her coach), the weather And the facilities....I mean she is blown away. Can't stop talking about all she is learning. Best part of conversation I have had with her the past 2 nights "Dad, the people here, coaches and other campers are all so nice. You were right about that. If you took away everything else here, I could tell I am in Nebraska. Thanks so much for sending me."

And....she's sold! For those of you that think the "Nebraska way" or lifestyle is a myth or something to joke about, get out of state for awhile and you (and/or your kids) will realize shortly how great the people of your state make it. Anyway, thank you Nebraska. You have gained a teenage Husker fan for life!!

I could see her sheepishly say to me when I roll into Lincoln today to pick her up "daddy, there is no place like Nebraska."
