Been a tough few days dealing with a grandma who is on her death bed, a sister in stage 4 and young kids who are now having to learn some difficult things about life (and death). Blessed to have good support systems and a close family.
But this isn't Facebook, so what have I missed here? Just a quick perusal and the board seems a bit funky. Is it even worth trying to catch myself up?
Regardless, lots to look forward too. I'm excited to watch the Huskers go for that 10th win in football to try and finish off a great rebound season. I'm also jacked to start seeing transition into the systems and players specific to this group of coaches. No more snooze bar. Time to move forward.
And I can't even express how proud I am of the run the ladies went on trying to defend their national title. There are three senior ladies there who brought so much to the university over the last four years. I'm so happy for them!
Also really bummed to hear Westerkamp won't be able to finish it out on the field due to an injury. Too easy to take certain things for granted but student-athletes like Westerkamp, Rolfzen x2 and JWO have definitely "seen a million faces and rocked them all" (to borrow a line from Bon Jovi).
They've all brought about some pretty special memories through their time at NU and I wish them all nothing but the best!
Way too many great memories from these players to try and capture ITT. Can't wait to see who steps-up and takes their places as my new "favorite players". It happens every year, which is what makes rooting for the Huskers so much fun.
And I'm pretty stoked to see how this recruiting class finishes out. All the groundwork, effort and diligence boils down to the next +/- 45 days and like last cycle, where the coaches finished out with Miller, Farniok and Jackson, I'm excited to see which handful of 4 (and hopefully 5) star players choose to rep the "N".
The new "normal" in recruiting is still inventing itself but the one thing that'll only increase is the bumpy ride each cycle will likely present right up to (and thru) NLI day. Gonna have to keep conditioning myself to remain patient, stay calm and expect the unexpected.
Regardless, my deepest belief as a fan is that both John Cook and Mike Riley will wake-up this very morning and think, "It's a great day to be a Husker..., now what can I do to make it better".
I think we're in good hands.
