Good Write-Up On Upcoming Season

I don't disagree with any of this.

However, where there will be questions in how a couple of terms are defined by Husker fans.

Physical - many Nebraska fans confuse physical with power run game.

Our identity - again those words to most Husker fans mean a power run, run first offense.

Agreed. This is not your father's Nebraska football program. Although I would love to see us winning NC's again with the triple option, this is a pipe dream. That said, there are some characteristics that will always be in vogue...physical, disciplined, selfless play. Leaving a lasting imprint on the opponent. I want to see evidence that the players have fully bought in to the program by being weight room junkies. Don't care what the offensive scheme is. Give me the Blackshirts of old!!!

What you're missing is that his 9 wins weren't putting NU any closer to where it needed to be than Riley's 6 or 9 wins. That's why people don't care about Riley's win total vs. Bo's. Bo won 9, sure, he also got his face kicked in against OSU and Wisconsin. Just blown out like they should change their name to South East Nebraska Tech. And so has Riley. So essentially they're the same, with these key differences:

Riley's recruiting momentum is better
Riley is a much more mature and likeable human being

The number of wins doesn't matter much when both teams get the same rating on the "prove it" test: Could beat the bad teams but didn't belong with the good ones.

You can rest assured that if Riley's win totals don't rise and maintain at a certain level, he will meet the same end. Except for him I see a greater likelihood that he resigns and declares it was the plan all along for him to hand over the reins.
I'm not supporting Bo and his average of 9.5 wins a season. This is Nebraska and that wasn't good enough. Riley is a more likable guy. No question. As a fan you want him to win. But recruiting has been pretty even until this year...we have been in a few bigger fish. We could end up mid teens or in the low to mid 20s. Right now we are #18. Is that good enough for championships? The next couple of years will tell.

I know it's early, but what is the attrition rate of Pelini recruits to Riley recruits? I wonder if they are similar... I know pelini had at least 1 year that was horrendous... it seems like Riley's recruits aren't as likely to bolt... but again, it's still early.

I don't know on attrition. We had that four star frosh who had to play, Riley gave him chance and he's gone. Is all the other attrition Bo's guys? Keyshawn isn't in school...will he be back? Have we had a grade casualty this summer...lots of talk but maybe everyone is now in.

I'm sure some follow more closely than I do. I can read rankings and average stars but that's about it. The husband never really liked recruiting and now doesn't follow it at all...so he's of no use.

The problem with comparing recruiting classes is that Pelini's classes have mostly played out. Comparing the signing day ratings is irrelevant when you can look back and see how the players actually turned out. The 2013 class is a perfect example. 25 signed and upwards of 8 players transferred out without playing much. That class was ranked 11th I believe.
