What does the NCAA expect a defender to to when both players go low for a ball. The reciever to catch it... and the defender to knock it away. The head leads where the body is going. Try diving into a pool without leading with the crown of the head. Bad call on the ejection imo.

Great coaching on Iowa's part...test the new safety to see if he can correctly fill the run gaps. Iowa's offensive coaching staff recognized the weakness and exploited it.

So true. There was equal intent to cause a concussion. None. Unless there is gross recklessness or intent a key player should not be at risk of ejection. Unless it applies to teammates as well as opponents a player trying to make a clean play should at max wind up with penalty yards.

This rule is dumb. There is targeting on nearly every single tackle. If the rule is actually intended for safety of the players then take the helmet away and I guarantee they stop leading with the helmet. If it is also to protect the player, why wasn't the Iowa player that nearly killed his own guy get penalized and ejected as he targeted the Nebraska player as he led with his helmet but missed and nearly killed his own teammate.

I think it should have to be an obvious attempt to create helmet to helmet contact. Gerry was going after the ball and was successful in getting the ball. This ejecting people from a game for making a good aggressive play is just pure bs

It is a harsh rule, given the ejection part. I think they need to rethink the first time automatic ejection part. But the rule won't be going away, too many injury concerns. On the Canzeri runs though, it just seemed like we didn't have any LBs or DBs on the field at all, not sure Gerry would have saved those.

I also was very confident in a win. I also said we win easily if Tommy keeps stupid mistakes under 2. Well he threw 4 int, including a pick 6. We had 100 yards in penalties. They still only won by 8. Take away the pick 6 at the 5 yrd line and one other INT we probably win by a td. Cut the penalties in half and we push the win to 10 plus.
Im not sure how many of you have played D, but it is demoralizing when you go out there bust your ass to get a stop only for your offense to turn around and put you right back out on the field with a fumble or int. Now do that 4 more times. Not saying the d gave up but it is mentally exhausting and sure didn't help.

I'm pretty bummed out right now. The defense played a damn good game shutting Iowa down. Gerry getting bounced really hurt us but we settled down and regrouped. You gotta give Iowa credit for attack that weakness before we could adjust. Offensively Cross and the line played the game we needed and the recievers made plays. But Tommy literally single handedly blew everything up. And that really is sad cause he looked to have grown as a quarterback early on. Staying positive is very important but he really reverted and doubled down in his questionable decision making. Sad...sad...sad.

Even with our 100 of penalties, we win this game. With all those mistake and penalties A 5-6 team should not be within 8 of the #4 team in the country. So either Nebraska is better than their record shows or Iowa is really not good. Iowa did not dominate that game. We were in it all the way till the end.

TA had 5 INTs the prior 2 games .. he gave Rutgers 14 points all by himself and threw ant INT inside the ten yard line against MSU and you thought that those performances were going to be good enough to beat a top 5 team?

I never said armstrong was playing better. I said they, the rest of the team. I expected armstrong to make is normal 1-2 mistakes. The team as a whole was playing good enough to overcome his mistakes. Very few teams can over come a 4int game no matter what quality of opponent your playing. Had very little to do with it being a #4 team. As I said, if he had only made those 1-2 mistakes I believe we win this game. The other 2 int and pick 6 on the 5 gave them the win.

And the refs saw a weak rule that completely pussifies the game and exploited it. That ejection was complete horsecrap.
