So, Tristan Gebbia goes on a cross country recruiting trip this last week to Utah, WVU, and ... Ole Miss. Ole Miss is his parents alma mater, where his dad played football. Here's a LINK to the article.

The good news: This was his parents first time back to Ole Miss since leaving 25 years earlier, so maybe not a super duper family connection to Ole Miss.

The ?'s: Gebbia is quoted as saying, "I may cut to a final three, but if one school separates soon, then I'll commit off my current list". Gebbia has a top five, NU, Ole Miss, Wash, Wash St, and WVU. So, we have not "separated" from the top 5.

The bad news (or the not as good news for the rhetoric pumpers): Another site that predicts where recruits sign no longer had NU at 100% for Gebbia, The prediction is now 60% Ole Miss, 40% NU.

Any thoughts out there? The other site shows Davis Mills as our qb target.

We should wait till he visits Lincoln again in March with some of his H.S teammates.

With Mom and Dad going to Ole Miss and pops playing there it looks like it's going to come down to NU and Ole Miss.

I didn't read anything negative into that article.. I read that quote to imply that none of the 3 visits he just took separated for him. He's looking for a family environment. He needs to be at our spring game in my opinion.

Get the kids on campus and let it sort itself out.

When NU gets beat it's never due to lack of facilities or no family vibe, it's usually due to distance.

Secondly, Ol Miss cannot use the black bag card here. The Gebbia family is doing fine financially; this is good for NU.

Get him here and NU is good.

If Gebbia is visiting with KJJ for the spring game, that is when the separation will occur in my opinion. Then he will be N.

Just afraid Ole Miss will 'out bid' Nebraska, if they think that will work.

I hear ya, which is why I liked husk10's post about their financial standing...

I know the kid could go and have even more I guess, but hoping not...

I kinda hope Ole Miss gets a healthy probation put on them and that should really help our chances with the kid. If we can land KJJ ans possibly Holmes too, that also should help our chances even more. I wont guess on Holmes but i will go out on a limp and say we get KJJ and Gebbia. Ole Miss is in a bit of trouble which should help us.

Mississippi? Meh... Ole Miss is quite different from Nebraska in relation to California kids. Not in a good way. Not sure he would enjoy Oxford, but you never know. IMO, it's all about NU. Is he confirmed the #1 QB on our board? If so, he'll be N. Riley/Langs track record with QBs too impressive. If he's not getting that vibe from the NU staff (#1 on board), then I would understand WVirginia more than Ole Miss. We'll see. Very important to get QB on board early. No later than April. IMO.

This other recruiting web site has Davis Mills as our (singular) QB target. We keep putting out more offers, do the coaches think we have a "lock" but we're looking for two? We now have 11 offers out to QB's, which is 3 more than last week. Gebbia has already visited NU two or three times (I think it's twice, but not certain). Separation from the pack has not occurred and we've had him on campus.

Maybe Gebbia is going for 100% without a doubt certainty. QB's in general seem to commit early to the name brand programs (please correct me if I'm wrong with data), and we're still putting out offers. All 11 of our QB offers are Rivals top 250 players, so I don't see us openly recruiting one of these guys for a position other than QB. I read the article, and I can't tell anyone if it looks like Gebbia will commit somewhere before March or after November.

I was mostly trying to be objective in the opening post so as not to "steer". I think Gebbia is a coin flip for us, 50/50.

I'd say he's an Ole Miss lean, with Nebraska not too far behind then everyone else down the list. I'd be surprised if he doesn't sign with the Rebels, gut feel says him being a legacy means something to him and his family that'll win out in the end. The one hope I have is their late to the table on offering him, and the thought Riley/Lansgdorf has built a stronger relationship in that time frame.

And that bond has to mean something with him. Hes visited a lot and he knows he will get top notice QB coaching here and more then likely a chance to continue playing with his best friend and bro Keshawn Johnson Jr....that has to help us a lot and that is one thing Ole Miss can't compete with.
