Last Week: Iowa 49, Purdue 35
With the loss to Iowa, Purdue failed to win back-to-back games for the first time in the Darrell Hazell era, and this game ultimately proved to be his final game at the school. With the loss, Hazell ended his Purdue career with a record of 9-33 and 3-24 in Big Ten play. Iowa jumped out of the gate early, scoring touchdowns on five of its first six possessions, on its way to winning a school-record ninth consecutive road game. Iowa raced out to a 42-7 lead before Purdue found some offensive success against Iowa's backups in the fourth quarter, but Purdue never seriously threatened the Hawkeyes in the contest. Iowa outgained Purdue in the contest 520 yards (155 pass, 365 rush) to 505 yards (458 pass, 47 rush). Purdue had one turnover in the game. For Iowa, C.J. Beathard was 10-of-17 for 140 yards with 2 TDs. The Hawkeyes had a pair of 100-yard rushers in Akrum Wadley (14 carries, 170 yards, 1 TD) and LeShun Daniels (24 carries, 156 yards, 2 TD). Cole Herdman (7 rec, 104 yards, 1TD), DeAngelo Yancey (2 rec, 92 yards, 1 TD) and Brycen Hopkins (3 rec, 80 yards, 2 TD) led the way in the receiving department in the loss.

Last Year: Purdue 55, Nebraska 45
Darrell Hazell picked up his first Big Ten home win in his career as Purdue upset Nebraska 55-45 in West Lafyette. Freshman quarterback David Blough, in just his fifth collegiate start, had a big game in the air and on the ground to lead the Boilermakers to the win over the Huskers. Cornerback Anthony Brown intercepted three Nebraska passes to snap a nine-game losing streak for Purdue. Nebraska played without starting quarterback Tommy Armstrong, who sat out with a foot injury and turned to junior Ryker Fyfe, who was intercepted four times, including three times by Brown. Nebraska found themselves down by as much as 26 points and could never come back, despite a 29-point fourth quarter performance by the Huskers. Purdue led 21-9 at the half, and Nebraska cut the lead to 21-16 early in the second half, but Purdue scored 21 in the third quarter and another 13 in the final stanza to hold the Huskers off. Nebraska outgained Purdue in the contest 484 yards (407 pass, 77 rush) to 457 yards (274 pass, 183 rush). Nebraska committed five turnovers in the game, while Purdue committed none. David Blough was 28-of-43 for 274 yards with 4 TDs and no interceptions while also rushing 10 times for 82 yards and a score. Markell Jones also rushed 23 times for 92 yards and 2 TDs. DeAngelo Yancey was the top receiver with five catches for 111 yards and 2 TDs. For Nebraska, Ryker Fyfe was 29-of-48 for 407 yards with 4 TDs and 4 INTs.
