I just joined @Greg Smith in dropping a FutureCast prediction for 2024 four-star DE/LB Jacob Smith to pick Michigan. That won't come as much of a surprise since that's been the general feeling for a while of where he would end up.

Nebraska has been giving a good fight against Michigan, getting Smith on campus three times – including last weekend's official visit where he was the highest-ranked target on campus. As I wrote about from my interview with him after that OV, it's become a Michigan vs. Nebraska battle to land him. The writing is on the wall, though. It's not just the fact that has brother (Jerod Smith) is already committed to the Wolverines. That's part of it, but the EDGE position Michigan envisions for Jacob Smith (especially in a standup defensive end role) is what I believe he'll decide is the best fit for his future. It's "a more clear-cut role," he told me last week, as opposed to the Jack/Will linebacker spots that Nebraska has pitched him on playing. All of that + he already took an OV to Michigan this month and told me he plans to take an unofficial to Ann Arbor with his brother this weekend.
