Astronauts fart a lot in space.

Tis true.

On Earth, at sea level, the weight of the atmosphere exerts around 15 lbs per square inch of pressure on the human body. That tends to push INTO a body by that much, having the effect of pushing flatulence back into the body.

Ya see, in space, or micro-gravity, that restraining pressure is effectively zero, so gas passes more freely out of the human body out of the badger-hole. Astronauts fart more in space.

To combat this, NASA came up with charcoal-activated underwear for astronauts to mitigate the undesirable effects of unwanted bodily emissions.
