Says each player will have to earn his starting position. So if Martinez wants to be the starter, then he will have to beat out the others on the roster and "he has a couple good one on the roster."

I really like listening to Frost talk and hearing what he has to say... but not in that creepy way...

And I predict between now and signing date we will hear several “YES!!” posts and several “we can’t get the star players”.

I seriously get tired of recruiting conversation. We hired a staff and paid them handsomely because we trust them.

Let them do their job and quit getting so worked up over decisions 17-18 year olds make.

kinda backs up my feelings he will be the starter next year. Yes, he will have to earn it but I dont think Frost wants someone who fits 50% or 75% of his system but 100% of what he visions a qb to be in his system. It will be messy at times but if he starts TG or POB then odds say Martinez will be on the bench for 3 years. I dont see Frost doing that with Martinez. JMO

A lot is going to depend on how his shoulder heals. He might earn the starting job some time next season, but I'd be surprised if he starts Game 1 as a true freshman, after not even playing his senior year of high school.

I saw somewhere on here that Martinez could have played this season but they held him out for precautionary reasons and he's fully healed.. someone's buddy had talked to their brother in law who knows his high school coach's neighbor

To me his statement indicates we will see some kids leave the program , some probably being encouraged to do so.

Frost is calculated and smart, he needs to turn this thing around , making everyone happy isn’t in the cards when you going through this dramatic of change .

He also said they wouldn’t get guys just to fill a class.
They want to make sure they’ll be the right fit for the program.

Sounds like their not just going to give a scholarship to just any Dick and Harry just to fill up a class.

I talked to Martinez HS Coach yesterday- I know him pretty well- known him for 10+ years
Said the shoulder is fine
The dad held him out as a precaution- totally understandable
Said he would be good to go

Playing too many "what if" games here. I don't claim to know what Frost wants in his system. Frankly, I am not certain any of us knows the exact system he will run. He changed it from Oregon and may change it more for the B1G. Who knows. The one thing I do know, Frost is the architect of HIS system and HE will pick the QB that fits what HE wants. Since none of us has seen his system in earnest nor the QB's we have run it, how the heck would anyone know? Either way, Martinez could easily red shirt, not saying he will, but he is a freshman coming off an injury.
