"Nebraska development officer Jack Pierce said the sellout streak was in jeopardy for three games last year. He said he had to call on friends of the program a few days before each of those games to buy up tickets that had been turned back in by the opponent."

This quote got me thinking about how Nebraska needs to approach the growing problem seen around the country of shrinking attendance figures.

What better time than now to tear down the south stadium and totally revamp the layout to be more fan friendly. Build an upper deck that transitions the east & west stadiums and add a video board that matches the north endzone.

The downside to this is some season ticket holders would lose their seats. However, I don't feel there would be too many long time donor seats lost in this. Another hurdle would be how to handle season ticket holders that may not have seats to sit in during construction. My take would be to recoup the "lost season" for existing ticket holders by giving them free season tickets the year following the completion of construction if they agree to maintain their future donations and season ticket purchases.

The upside would be improved fan experience and of course the continuation of the sellout streak.
