We blew a 12 point lead. Brice Williams miraculously put it into overtime anyway, only to have the rest of the team fold listlessly.

I regret purchasing Peacock to watch that collapse.

Tough to win on the road. Even guys like Bill Self and their talent struggle with it.
I get that, but we supposedly pride ourselves on defense, right? We can’t hold that big of a lead? What was the plan to counter Iowa’s run? What was the plan for overtime?

Watching us sometimes this season it feels like Brice Williams is the only guy on the team with the fire and heart to go win, but he is just one guy.

It was one game and they had a 3-point shooter go off at the right time along with the refs screwing us over. When their big man can set moving screens to help their shooters get good looks what are you going to do?

It's one game.

I think NU actually led by 15 at one time.

Seems counter-intuitive, but I would have tossed a little matchup zone at Iowa to slow their comeback. Makes it harder to get open looks off screens. Plus, use a couple timeouts. Coaches love to hoard those TOs like they are made of gold.

That said, I feel like Fred is squeezing quite a bit out of a modestly talented roster. Williams is a stud, but the guys around him are a bunch of lunch pail dudes who play hard but have limitations.

As hard as it is to win on the road, I expect our staff to be able to avoid such a giant collapse. We looked like we were running away with it.

If we win at Purdue it won't matter. It's all about holding court at home & pulling off 3-4 road wins in the big. There's a schedule stretch we might go 0-4, but that doesn't mean we aren't one of the better teams we've ever had here

Fred can’t step up to the line and shoot the free throws for them. Missing free throws cost us the game. Those are gimmes.

We’re deeper this year but that depth isn’t a bunch of guys who would start for KU. Each one of them has a weakness. Rollie’s free throw shooting is a problem.

There will be other opportunities to win on the road like Washington,NW, Penn St and Columbus Ohio.

It's difficult at crunch time to have your veteran point guard be inconsistent at the line. It will cost you games. Unfortunately Sam fouled out in regulation. We could have used Sam on the floor in overtime. Handles the ball, high basketball IQ, plays defense and can make some free throws.

This formula likely gets them dancing again, but if the goal is move the program forward and win games in the tournament they are going to need to learn to close out and win tough games on the road against teams other than the conference bottom feeders. They aren't going to be playing any tournament games in the Vault.

4 conference road wins would be great but is a big step up - Fred has only won a total of 10 through 6+ seasons

Need a couple better players. It’s really that simple. We got screwed by the committe last year. I still think this team could win a tourney game with this roster. A lot depends on health and draw.

I feel the same as you, this team COULD win a tourney game. Teams like this win 1-2 almost every year. BUT - they usually make their free throws. Not sure how that happened last night. Probably one of the more frustrating games I've watched in awhile.

Don’t think Sam would have mattered in OT. I’ve praised Sam for making crucial positive plays. Last night he had some bad turnovers that cost us in the second half. Water under the bridge. Time to look forward.

If Essegian is not hitting, which is probably more than half the time, NU basically has one guy who can put the ball through a Hula Hoop from outside the paint. The Huskers play hard and often above their talent level, but perimeter scoring options are very thin.

That's why I hope Griffiths isn't completely out of the picture. If the Purdue game goes south, give him some minutes and see what he can do against that level of competition.

Huskers were the victim of one guy getting freakin hot. Even when they had a guy in his face the guy was drilling it. Strange to me how herkies always find the skinniest pasty white dudes who can shoot out of the gym, but they find them. He had like 30 points in the second half alone. That’s just one guy who got hot. It happens. I also think Huskers should have gone zone. Herkies kept finding guys open in the corner. Sucks to blow a 15 point lead, but just gotta move on. Life in the Big 10.

You mean skinny and pasty like Eseggian? That Sanford kid made some too. We need Brice, Gary and Essegian all to hit 3s and last night they pretty much all struggled to hit 3s.

Esseggian is just one guy and not the heart of the team. He’s a bench player. Herkie is loaded with them. Not that I’m trying to …..invoke race. Just an observation.🤷‍♂️. Several players had rough games, Gary being one of them. Even Sam didn’t have his best night with the turnovers he had. But they had a guy who got hot and couldn’t miss wherever he shot it from. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat. That missed double dribble though could have been a difference maker.

I'm not criticizing anything from a race standpoint, I get its just a basketball discussion. That said, it's kind of old news to somehow think the skinny pasty white guys can't play. There are so many white dudes that can ball its not even worth noting anymore. Josh Dix is from Council Bluffs, I wonder if we even recruited him?
