College Baseball Hall of Famer Mike Martin, who coached Florida State for 40 seasons and won 2,029 games over his career, has died at the age of 79.
Former Florida State baseball coach Mike Martin passed away today at the age of 79 after a battle with dementia.
Martin is the winningest coach in college baseball history. He coached for 40 years at FSU with a record of 2,029-736-4 before retiring in 2019. He is not only the winningest coach in college baseball history but the winningest coaching in NCAA history.
During his tenure, the Seminoles won 19 conference titles, made 40 NCAA Tournament appearances and made 17 trips to the College World Series. Despite all that success, a national championship eluded him.
