This Christmas season, I like to take time to reflect about everything that has gone wrong in my life as a result of poor choices made many years earlier. But that is not the true meaning of this post.
I simply forgot what it was like to watch a game pop open and Nebraska running away from teams so suddenly. Watched the '96 Fiesta Bowl again. NU down 10-6 at the beginning of the 2nd quarter. They go into the locker room up 35-10. Win 62-24, and could've put up 80 that night.
Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas
Florida did not score 36

Was at that game....I'll remember a lot of those days forever, most notably the unbelievably mouthy Gator fans. Made Buff fans look like choir boys.

My son and I sat on the 40 yd. line at that game in the middle of a bunch of Gator fans. We didn’t have to say much because as the game went on we just watched them melt down amongst themselves. They couldn’t believe the “fun and gun” got stuffed.

Did you politely wave goodbye and show them some Nebraska Nice when they left early? Winking

No. We all just chanted "it's great to beat the Florida Gators".

One of the main reasons I laugh when people repeatedly suck off the SEC. If we ended in bowls, SEC people would be touting the UF speed and saying how great they are. Media was all over that as well. Same for the Tennessee teams. Why I'm so interested in an expanded playoff. I want to see the SEC prove it on a semi-level playing field where everyone is now paying players.

There was a guy on ESPN radio back before that game. Can't remember his name-- might have been Tony Bruno. He talked a ton of trash on Nebraska. Said Florida would blow us out and if Nebraska won, he would walk from the east coast to Nebraska and eat some "humble pie". After the game, Bruno never brought it up. Somehow like a lot of our pundits of today, he forgot all about there even being a Fiesta Bowl that was played!

This is the exact time where Nebraska broke the Fun & Gun offense. The public perception of Steve Spurrier's offensive brilliance was never the same again.

First half of OP’s post might be the funniest thing I’ve ever read on here 😆

Well done and Merry Christmas
