- Are they Husker fans?
- If so, are they passionate or casual?

Talking with some fans of other programs and they cannot believe the fan following Nebraska still has after so many miserable years. Then debated whether the next generation would keep showing up - especially the ones that have never witnessed Nebraska win anything. That topic peaked my interest, so thought I would ask.

I’ll start - 2 boys and 2 girls. Both girls casual. Watch the games if there is a gathering, otherwise not. 1 boy follows pros, so casual Husker fan, watches now and then. Other boy watches all games, but went to Iowa State, so passionately follows them, casually follows Huskers.

Most kids will have in their memory of Nebraska football as being the team that sucks and plays boring football. And that's only natural, for most of their lives, that is the only truth they knew. They don't have the same emotional attachment as a lot of us growing up, where we'd be bawling if the Huskers lose and elated with a win. During the time I was growing up, I was already starting to see more Texas and Oregon hoodies than I ever did Nebraska. Kids don't have near the emotional attachment, so they'll likely grow up to be more casual fans, if at all. Despite the sellout streak, there's been a tremendous amount of permanent damage done to this fanbase over the last decade-plus. It's delusional to think the fanbase is as strong as it once was.

my kid is a science nerd and likes/plays hockey, a combo which baffles me.

My 16 year old son never became much of a Husker fan, he knows I am and he sincerely feels bad for me. He has started to follow the NFL and is a Lions fan. My daughter liked going to a couple of games in Lincoln but she doesn’t care. So for me, 0 out of 2 when they become adults will ever go to a game or buy any merchandise.

2 boys. Oldest has zero interest in football. Youngest is a casual Cornhusker fan. We try to go to a game every year but he doesn't usually watch them on TV.

I told mine recently it sucks they've never experienced us being good. I told em we lost 3 times in 5 years when I was about their age. It's really sickening where we're at.

17 & 19 boys. Love the Huskers but mostly unaffected by the losses.
