For anyone who hasn't sworn off football, Utah and USC

second game of the day i've seen the team go for 2 and fail. emu/army was the other.

I can understand Whittingham's thinking, and if the QB keeps his eyes upfield they could have converted. But I'm still surprised he went for two. With that TD drive the Utes had retaken the momentum, and I felt like they had a decent chance in OT.

Wow, going for 2 was really stupid.
My rule of thumb is you go for two if there is not enough time for the other team to go down and possibly get a fg to beat you. With 42 seconds, I would have kicked the PAT and played for overtime.

If you go for two and don't get it you obviously lose, but if you get it the other team will obviously try to move into FG range to beat you. If you are tied the other team may just play for overtime as well not wanting to make a mistake that late in regulation.

As Bremser used to say, that receiver was so wide open he had time to wind his watch.

Also in the Pac-12, Washington is trailing Arizona State 13-0 late in the first half. I put the O/U on the number of "Fire Chris Petersen!" and "Frost to Washington!" threads at 122.
