Football Coaches > Nice Guys

I also think his whole press conference was essentially calling out WR & RB coaching.
and obviously the disgraced former OC

and a bit of the Nice Guy who's allowed this to go on for 2+ years

and finally the softies we've been trotting out there for 10 games

WR blocking is the biggest issue this team has this year. Been an issue since day 1. We have no screens, no perimeter running and can’t beat a blitz because of it. Really handcuffs us and puts a lot of pressure on dylan and the Oline.

No one commenting that he only wanted the job because he said he was bored?

Honestly, will be a breath of fresh air to have someone who is blunt.
bored is a good thing, IMO

hyper productive people have a tough time sitting around

guarantee Holgorsen will never need to be shaken awake in his office by his QB.

Come on, you are completely taking that out of context (again). DR said Rhule slept in his office and he woke him up, not knowing he was there, when he came it at 5 AM to watch film. That is a little different than "needing to be shaken awake by his QB".

Rhule said he arrived early - didn't spend the night - and fell asleep in his office

DR woke him up when he got to the facility

nothing out of context. a direct quote from NGMR, who I imagine snores like a rhino.

I guess you are right he went home and came back. However, you are trying to portray a guy watching film at 4:30 AM as lazy and having to be shaken awake by his QB. That is extremely disingenuous, but you knew that when you posted it.

Who do you think DH was talking about? "Thought we had you know a couple of runs that were good tough runs that got good tough yards. But you know I Rhule said yesterday there's a lot of yards out there. When I can push the back and there's a whole like this," uses hands to show a big sized hole. "And the backs not in it. It's discouraging. You know and so just got ya know get those guys to open their eyes trust their blocks and... and hit it. I thought at half time I told the RB coach I was like they need to hit that thing better. Cause there were some holes there."

he wasn't watching film. he was asleep.

literally laying on the floor by the door, per DR, who almost hit NGMR in the head with the door when he came in to say good morning.

nothing disingenuous about this accurate account of what happened, per the two people involved.

also - the more Holgorsen speaks the more I think the AD had more than just a hand in our mid-season staff changes

Wise Kong. Tell me more. What is Holgorsen saying/doing that gives you that impression? (That might have sounded snarky. But I actually do what to know what you mean.

On that 3rd and short play early in the game, Dowdell missed a big hole and just ran through someone instead.

Okay you think Dowdell? I do know I hear from a lot of people he has no vision. Why can't we ever get a big power back who has vision.

he is the antithesis of NGMR.

no chance Rhule would willingly and of his own accord hire a guy to completely & publicly undermine his first 2 years at NU within 12 days on the job.

"It's embarrassing."

that is Dana's message to the entire operation. and all of a sudden he's the fan favorite because he shoots it straight in pressers instead of preaching, which has obviously run its course and grown more than tiresome.

Those are pretty fair points. He does seem the most outspoken than the rest of the staff. I doubt any of the rest of his staff would call out assistants. He did backpedal a little. By saying "I got stuck on my favorite players too in 2007." Still pretty brutal by Matt Rhule standards.

You are like a dirty politician trying to constantly twist every word to creat your own reality. The guy hasn't won enough, we all agree on that, but all these preaching and lying and being lazy and being soft narratives you invent are just ridiculous.

too little too late? maybe.

I hope Holgerson's abrasive honesty doesn't land him on the naughty list and out the door this offseason.

He just hired a good offensive ball coach, who he knows and respects, to turn around the offense. It really can be that simple.

I know what he said.

once again, his words "I come in at 4:30 to watch film" do not match his actions since DR found him lying on the floor of his office a mere 30 minutes later sound asleep, nearly hitting NGMR in the head with the door.

I am not inventing anything. the above is literally what happened according to both the head coach and the quarterback.

Rhule has called it out before but not as blunt. Give Rhule some credit, he reacted to the situation with a great hire....late ...but he did it.

It would be interesting to know how Rhule feels about Holgersen's comments at the press conference. And whether he'll try to tone Holgersen down for future press conferences.

He has no time for bullshit or feelings. Like me.

Shoots it straight. Like me.

He for sure would find some of the soft, positive-only narrative seekers on this board embarrassing.

I don't know if you do. My background , experience, and age = No fuks given at this point. Cut anybody and everybody lose at the end of the season that doesn't man up . I'm way over this BS. It's beyond embarrassing and unacceptable.

here is DR's recounting:

the only person inventing their own reality in this exchange is you, my friend.

NGMR got to work at 4:30am to "watch film", DR finds him fast asleep on the floor of his office 30 minutes later.

sorry you hate facts so much.

I don't see why he would. Rhule has always been pretty direct and honest, some are just tired of hearing it from him because we haven't won enough. I don't think he will have any issue with DH doing the same.

I care.

when people call me a dirty politician who "invents his own reality", I prefer to set the record straight.

nothing - literally nothing - that I said was opinion. it all happened exactly how I said it did.

I understand that this stuff is not what NGMR apologists want to see, but your and @headcard's feelings don't change facts.

It's all spin, all day with you. I'm not some "apologist"; I just live in reality and don't play your game of wild narratives. I think we can just judge the team on their performance and not make up these crazy things to be outraged over.
