Food for thought on coaching changes.

I think it's foolish to expect a great first season but where Nebraska currently sits isn't the norm for good coaches in their first year. I didn't even expect 9 wins this season but I also didn't expect to watch Nebraska get throttled by Purdue...

Part if the reason why I worried about this season. Coaching chamges most of the time mean a bad season. Michigan this year is an exception. Wish we'd had the out of conference schedule Bo had in 2008, but we played a couple of teams with a pulse. That seemed to set the tone for the year.

Michigan, Houston, Florida are all exceptions then. All benefited from making good hires.

I just glanced at the article, but never saw the part where teams win 72% of their games under one coach and are winning 33% the next year and not showing any progress.

I would hope most didn't expect a 9 win season. First year coach almost always struggle. That being said I think MR should be better than 3 win season. As I said in an earlier post, that big of drop off points towards either poor coaching or poor player mentality.

Michigan and Florida...they hired big name, splash making coaches. Why not us?

We are in the group that got worse.

I can't imagine how anyone could have expected less than 9 wins this year with the schedule we have.

Florida didn't hire big name but they hired a hot coach who did well where he was at during the time. We're hiring the old and busted coaches while others take these game changing coaches..

We just lost to the worst team on the schedule. Of course 5 turnovers will do that. So what does that say about us?

You might be the worst team in the BIG10. Don't worry - It won't be forever though...these things run in cycles when you are playing in a real conference like you do now.

We went into a game with the 104th rushing defense in the nation with a backup QB with a game plan of throwing the ball maybe?

Don't disagree with that. But have we shown the ability to jam it down anyone's throats this year? Anyone with a pulse. Newby ain't no Abdullah.

Agree we probably are the worst team. Not sure I would classify the BIG10 a top notch conference by any means. 3 teams ranked in the top 25 is nothing to write home about.

In the first 3 series the running backs averaged 8.3 yards per carry. The Jet sweep attempts cost us 13 yards. It isn't that Newby isn't Abdullah as much as this staff is pretty clueless as to how to manage a ground game.

Sure seemed that way at times.

We don't have anywhere near the talent that Michigan or Florida has. Go look at their last 4 recruiting classes. Our upperclassmen as a whole on our roster are not anywhere near where we need to be to be competitive in the B1G.
