Lets just get this out of the way, since its a recurring theme here. Supposing one wanted to fire Riley and the Staff, no ifs ands or buts...

Who is the axe man?

Does SE get up on stage less than one year from axing Pelini and do it?

Does Perlman take a break from ordering cakes for his retirement party to do it?

Does anyone really think 8 elected OWM (old white men) on the Board of Regents are going to stir the pot and embarrass their Chancellor buddy by wiping out the University power structure only 7 months and change from his retirement?

Further, but less substantiated, supposing anyone of the above fellas overrode SE on Whittingham over money (as Sharp alluded to), you really think they are going to put themselves in the line of fire when the mob only wants SE/Perlman's heads? SE doesn't just install a coach, a number of other people signed off.

And this will all happen with a smile from them on national tv?

I don't see it. Realistically the "change now" guys are coach shopping after Year 2 at the *earliest*.

i agree it won't happen, it will be year 2 or more likely year 3 if this continues.. provided there is still a fan base left.

And then, he'll be ready to retire anyway, and we get to do this all over again, but the new guy will want to run a different system, won't have his players... wash, rinse, repeat.

There will be a fan base. The great majority of Husker fans aren't manic like the majority of this free message board. The degree of idiocy I read on here is disheartening.

I agree with most that say that Riley isn't going anywhere after this season. However, important shifts have happened that provide hope to those of us that see how HP and SE have destroyed this program. One, Harvey is retiring and has been neutered for intents and purposes. This is important because I was worried that he might extend Eichorst before his exit. Two, most fans along with several boosters and regents now see Eichorst for what he is and know the emperor has no clothes. In addition, the new President appears to understand the importance of the football program to the University and fans(something that Harvey never understood and actually detests). That gives me hope that he will choose a new Chancellor with that same understanding and rid us of that Energy Bus ridin' failure before he can cause further damage.

You want 2 or 3 more years of this? The whole thing needs a major overhaul.

No, but you really look bad firing a coach in his first year. It's like we are stuck with this for awhile. I def understand the frustration.

People are confusing wants with reality. You can want all you want, who is the guy who makes your action happen? That's what this thread is all about. He is not here yet
