I'm back on this Sunday for the third and final day of the Ameritas Players Challenge with No. 5 Nebraska (2-0) taking on SMU (1-1) in the finale. Right now, Utah State leads Lipscomb 2-1 after taking the third set. The Mustangs have split the first two games of the tournament as they swept Lipscomb on Friday before losing 3-1 to Utah State last night.
Nebraska has steamrolled its way through this tournament as it took care of business against the Aggies on Friday night where three freshman made their collegiate debuts. That included Bergen Reilly who became the second ever freshman to start at setter for NU. Here's that recap:
Last night we saw much of the same in a sweep of Lipscomb, but head coach John Cook threw out a different lineup as junior Ally Batenhorst got the start at OH over Lindsay Krause while freshman MB Andi Jackson was in for Bekka Allick. Jackson was the newcomer that shined as she hammered down eight kills on a .700 hitting percentage. Here's more from last night:
Plus, here's the weekend preview to get you set for SMU. It's the battle of the Batenhorsts today as Ally takes on his sister Casey who's a serving sub for the Mustangs.
