Film Room (Spring): Encouraging Defense

I am trying to better understand this ol' game and breaking down plays like this helps me.

Here's a couple things I'm seeing that I find encouraging about the defense (this is the #2 defense, thus we are talking depth). First, I like the penetration from Payton Newell (#99). He blows up the play pretty early.

Second, I like Newby's earlier recognition, shedding the block and moving laterally to make the tackle.

Third, take a look at #9 DaiShon Neal up top against David Knevel to seal the edge and force Newby back inside (at least that's what I'm seeing).

Finally, I like #24 Aaron Williams' speed to come down and finish the play (that was already made my Newby).
