Ferentz?

Ferentz is the perfect coach for a place like Iowa. Mostly squeaks out 8-5 teams, but sometimes gets ten wins so the fans can feel proud. That's the level of expectation for Iowa, and he's met those expectations for a long time.

No fear. Having said that, I love Friost at Nebby. Great hire and you guys being better is good for the conference..
Thanks.
Don't take offense, but I think you guys would be better off without Ferentz. It seems bizarre to say that, given his overall solid record there, and he is obviously a good coach with a good program in place. But it just seems like he can never get you guys over the hump from good to great. With your fan base, and facilities, and with Iowa being a good school, and Iowa City being a cool little university town, you should be able, in my opinion, to be more of a title contender every year than you are.

I am probably wrong, but that is my opinion for what it's worth

Thanks and I agree at times with you...I wanted Ferentz gone and they have an undefeated regular season. Ugh. Iowa's defense has always been strong under KF, it's the offense that has been inconsistent. I thought after Brad Banks that we'd go with a dual threat QB but I was wrong (though to his credit, KF went after Chris Leak hard). I've learned to appreciate our developmental program and that we do things the right way.

I don't know Ferentz vrs Frost but I have to say paying Frost 35 million for 7 years is kind of crazy money for a guy that has been a head coach for only 2 years... Probably just as crazy as the money we throw at Ferentz. The only difference is that Ferentz has put the time in and has been pretty successful and steady at Iowa. What has Frost done? He did turn a turn a program around in 2 years but what else does he done to warrant such a high contract? For better or for worst, it will be great for your program or a complete fail... 7 years is a long time for an unproven coach...Big risk or great reward..guess we will find out...

He was at Oregon during their hayday. He leaves and it falls apart

I guess that warrants it...pay the man!!! I'm not anti Nebraska or anti Frost...I hope it works out. A better Nebraska means a better Big Ten and I'm all for that. I just don't see the reasoning. Moos is either a genius and can see the future or a complete idiot. I have seen his interviews and he seems to be a straight shooter so maybe he does know what he is doing. Anyway, you guys are locked in because a buyout will be too high...

Didn't Iowa give KF a big raise after winning the Orange Bowl in 2009.

We thought Iowa was nuts for giving him such along contract at 4 million when the last 6 out of 8 years he has lost 5 games or more.

A lot of teams had Frost in mind when it came to hiring a new Coach this year so I quess we weren't the only ones thinking he was worth the risk.

I guess he could do no worst then Riley or maybe he can. I do know he will have to shore up his defense because he cannot give up 40 some points a game and expect to win in the Big Ten. Ferentz did get a raise after the Orange Bowl victory which I thought was crazy... We are still locked in with Ferentz and he will probably retire at Iowa. The guy is only 2 wins from surpassing Hayden Fry at Iowa. Thats a lot of wins...

You don't think that he doesn't know that about the defense. Do you actually think that the defense is going to continue to be as bad as this year?

It may not happen the first year but once he gets the right personal here, the B1G West may have to keep up the scoring pace to beat us.

You do know that Nebraska ( 4 Coaches) have won more games than Ferentz during his tenure in Iowa City?

Why are people even talking about let alone thinking about Iowa on a day like this?!!!

I don't think Kirk is shaking in his coaching boots... As a fan...(yes I even watch Nebraska) the only teams I feared were Nebraska 20 some years ago...those days are long gone and may never come back. If they do...great! you guys have suffered enough!

I thought the Oregon HC left? Are you saying their success was all because of Scooter?
Oregon played in the National Championship game in 2015. Helfrich was Head Coach and Scott was OC.

Scott leaves in 2016, Oregon tanks and fires Helfrich after going 4-8.
Scott proceeds to light it up at UCF. 0-12 to 12-0 in 2 years.
Scott could very well be the next Urban Meyer, but actually likable

I'll wait and pass judgement on Frost being the next Urban Meyer until he actually wins his first Big Ten game...

Revisionist history, you failed to mention that Chip Kelly was the architect of that offense he built it he owned it, he leaves and Helfrich and Scooter soon ran it in the ground.

Yes, Scott did learn from Chip and has done very well with his offense. He put his own spin on it and helped UCF go undefeated this year, the only team to do so. Similar to Urban at Utah.

Once Frost left Oregon, it fell apart. Helfrich was Oregon's Solich.

I am as stoked about Frost as anyone but I would prefer we win a few games before we start putting the rest of the college football world on notice that we are back (again) It’s a bad look and reinforces many of the stereotypes of the fan base.

Let’s show them rather than constantly telling them

I get it. Ferentz is all about Iowa just like Frost is all about Nebraska. Everyone is happy. That being said, I hope you have enjoyed having the HyVee trophy.

Over on the Iowa side, they did a poll.
Which coach would they prefer. The options were Frost and Ferentz.
Of course the vast majority chose Ferentz
I can smell the fear

I don't think anyone is guaranteeing anything. Just funny to see the Iowa side get all insecure all of a sudden.

I would say being the QB coach of a Heisman trophy winner at Oregon, and then the head coach of the highest rated QB in the nation and the #1 offense in the nation this year would indicate he can coach pretty well.

Wrong again. You seem to be wrong a lot. Perhaps reading a little before you stop back next time would save you from this constant embarrassment.

Still waiting for your dumb ass to respond to your post that 8-10 teams from the B1G would beat UCF this year. Complete 'tard.

Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Rutgers and Wisconsin, Michigan State pay ATTENTION. Your days of even being competitive with the Huskers will end soon. It may not start next season but it won't be long before Big Red is treating these teams like they use to treat Kansas. For the so called Royal Three of the Big Ten. The Huskers are about to crash your party.

Frost might not be to bad since The Gators, Vols and a few others were looking into Frost and had him amongst there top targets. Dude will have our offense top notch and I bet fairly quick (year or so). But he knows the blackshirts are a HUGE deal in Nebraska....remember he is a former Husker himself from our heydays. If Chin is not cutting it and progressing quick, I bet anything he gets fired and we find a good DC somewhere. So assuming our defense is going to continue to suck....is a little short minded.

I love the confidence, all we EVER needed was a good coach. We are able to land 4 star talent fairly easily. We just lacked coaches to develop them. If Frost pans out like Moos, Gators and some of the other teams think he will...then the talent we are able to get will have us rolling solid and shouldn’t take to long.

Nebraska isnt crashing any parties. Wisconsin is a damn good football program, Iowa is obviously a thorn in the side program and Michigan State has been a top program in the B1G recently so they are no push over either.

Competitive, yes....Terrorizing them like Kansas? Yeah that probably isn't going to happen.
