All these music threads got me thinking and I decided to take a little stroll down DerHusker’s Memory Lane. (Note: Seen all of these in concert and I realize I’m given away my age)

10 Year After – I’d Love to Change the World.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Simple Man

Led Zepplin – When the Levee Breaks

Jethro Tull – Locomotive Breath

Rolling Stones – Gimme Shelter

Deep Purple – Highway Star

Moody Blues – Knights in White Satin

Emerson Lake & Palmer – Lucky Man

B52’s – Planet Claire (Kind of an offbeat one but try driving down a lonely desert road, at 1. A.M. after having partaken of a little attitude adjustment, listening to this at next to full blast and you’ll understand why it’s on the list)

Some more but I didn’t see these in concert.

The Doors – L.A. Woman

Jefferson Airplane – Somebody to Love

Grand Funk Railroad – American Band

Cream – White Room

Animals – House of the Rising Sun

Queen – I’m in Love With My Car

Steppenwolf – Born to be Wild

The Mamas & The Papas – California Dreaming

Enjoy!

Locomotive Breath is an absolutely fantastic choice, sir. Very, very good cruising song.
As is American Band.
Gimme Shelter at night I'll buy. Same with Moody Blues in certain situations.

I'll add Ramblin Man and Midnight Rider by the Allman Brothers.
Toss in some Lawyers, Guns, and Money by Zevon.
Stir in some The Band songs.
Add a "Touch of Grey".
Mix in anything by Tom Petty. Anything.
Season with some "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John. Gotta have some diversity in there.

I could do this all day. A lot of southern rock. Even some chick music like Heart is necessary for the long trips.
Edit: just saw "Can't You See" by Marshall Tucker Band in another thread, excellent driving song.

If I'm in a pissy mood and in DC, Ready, Steady, Go - Paul Oakenfeld. Then again, all driving in and near DC does that to a guy . DC/Va/Maryland drivers are among the worst.
