FAU fires Tom Herman in just his second year

Apparently, Herman had been looking for an OC position with a Power 4 conference team recently. So, either he suspected that he would be fired, or he wanted to leave FAU regardless of whether they fired him.

Once you've lived that OSU/Texas life, gotta be hard to confront the reality that you're an FAU level coach.
apparently not even

I don't know what's up with this guy. was Sean McVay and has flamed out

if we eventually need to make a change I want guys who are still on their way up, not descending from their peak

So lets say this occurred 2 weeks ago, would we still hire DH into an OC in waiting or was Herman in the mix to be here?

If the report is true that Herman has been working to get an OC position at a Power 4 school in recent weeks, I'm sure that Rhule knew he was available when he hired Holgersen.

At 4 million, he could be fired.

Can’t fire our current flop unless we want to eat about 60 million

Remember Rhules contract gradually goes up from 5.5 mil his first year and his final year is like 12 million plus.

So based on that, we probably have Rhule another 3 years minimum.
If we make it to 6 wins this year they’ll probably give him a lifetime contract and statue

Its been reported both TH and DH like women and beer.

Rhule passed on TH cause he likes to run the ball too much.

Why would Herman ever chase women? Have you seen his wife? Yes, they are real, and they are spectacular! She is tough too. When Herman's team lost a game a few weeks ago he was all upset at the opposing coach, who at the end of the game would only shake Herman's hand, but did not want to have a discussion with him. This upset Herman even more, so he chased after the other coach with his police escort in tow. The other coach's police escort shielded Herman from getting too close to their boss. Herman's wife came flying into the picture, grabbed Herman by the arm and pulled him away from the other coach. I don't think she said anything but the look on her face clearly indicated to Herman to cut it out.

Knew a guy who was a linebacker for Iowa State when Herman was there. Said he was an idiot and had no idea how he climbed the coaching ranks. No idea if that’s accurate but his most impressive stop was an OC at OSU.
When he left Iowa State for Ohio State he more than doubled his income. At the time he was the hot new toy on the market. And before Iowa State he was at the football powerhouse Rice University. He has come full circle and over hyped for years.

First of all, it was a joke. Secondly, TH got in hot water for going to strip joints.

Maybe he was already skating on thin ice down there and his wife was trying to protect her lifestyle.

Yeah, I saw the Seinfeld episode too.

I wasn't challenging your statement on Herman. I was merely questioning why he would be interested in anyway with other women when he has a very attractive wife at home. However, I have learned from a very smart person, my wife, that no one truly knows what goes on between two married people.

I have often mentioned I did not get married until I was 43. So, before I got married, I went to Denver 2-3 times a year to see cousins and several old Nebraska friends. Just about every time when I was visiting my old friends, all married, they would always say that I wanted to go to a strip bar. I would just laugh because before I could say anything I would find myself in Shotgun Willie's. It wasn't me who wanted to go. Sure, I had fun, but it was my friends who wanted to go, and I was their excuse to go there.

I partially agree and disagree.

I agree that buddies love to use you as an excuse to get away from their wives/girlfriends and cut loose.

I don't know that statistics support this, but I think regardless of how attractive a wife most men have, when given the chance, they will cheat on their wives/girlfriends.

Dudes with a lot of money who are free to travel are constantly looking to score, regardless of how long they've been married. Not all, but I think the majority do.

My best male friend since 1963 is addicted to porn and strip clubs. He's been married a long time with no kids. A long time ago he called me up in a panic cause he'd lost his wallet at that strip club in Fremont? I laughed, and I said that's what I think happened to Sipple too. For years, everytime he calls me, I answer with, "Don't tell me, you lost your wallet again?" I told him to keep effing around and he's gonna eff up again. And he did.

He's an independent claims adjustor and was in Des Moines and his wife was in Omaha. While he was there he hooked up with a hooker. Where he messed up was filling up his car and her car all within about 10 minutes. No problem, except, he used his credit card, and who you suppose does their books every month? His wife, and she's a smart cookie. Its a little tough to explain to your wife why you would fill up your car twice in 10 minutes. It about cost him his marriage.

I suppose if guys go out as a group, hit the strip club, drink some alcohol and enjoy the goings on its all good, until one of them decides to act on their impulses. Other than that, its just a night out with the guys.

My standard answer on the subject of cheating is always “I already have one woman driving me crazy, my wife, so why would I ever what another one!”. I am also too big of a coward. I am too afraid I would do something stupid like your friend and get caught by my wife. Funny thing. Where I live here in Washington I know lots of people, but I can only think of one guy who cheated on his wife. I know there has to be lots of them, but I am truly unaware of anything like that happening. Now the exact opposite is true for my Nebraska friends. People I've known for 50 plus years. I can think of a couple dozen just off the top of my head. Explain that? I've always thought it was because they get bored. Another thing about a small town. Someone is always going to tell you about someone else's business whether you want to hear it or not.
