Kinda worried about our running game.

Today's notes and quotes,

- 4 more months til Star Wars comes out..oh wait...

- Tweet from Vincent Valentine: "Last first day of classes"....uh oh.

- Mckewon, "At tight end, it's hard to see any separation between Cethan Carter, Trey Foster, Sam Cotton and David Sutton. They're all in a bit of a bunch, and even if Carter is the most talented of that bunch, he's still not a real assertive guy, and hasn't made a ton of plays."

- Gaskin, "Langsdorf on run game: Ups and downs. Part of inconsistency is not finishing blocks or blocking the right guy."

- OL is still not settled yet per Langsdorf

Keep in mind, VV was a redshirt, so he could be graduating in May. Doesn't mean he would be leaving early.

I think it means he's gone. If he were graduating in May, he'd have a first day of classes for the spring semester. Also, if I'm not mistaken, he'd have to take classes as a grad student if he were to graduate in May and play next fall.

More Notes,

- Langsdorf, " Pass protection improved. Backs & TEs need to protect better but QBs getting time they need, mostly. "

- Sjuts, " Westerkamp says # had a period at practice today devoted solely to BYU prep."

- ‏Sjuts, "Langsdorf on # RBs: "We're going to play them all." Praises Imani Cross, Devine Ozigbo, & Mikale Wilbon."

- Offense quickened tempo in closed-to-media practice, says Tommy. Needs more conditioning. 14-15 play drive Sat left some # gassed.

- Gaskins,

" Why is Tommy becoming more accurate last several practices? Having more fun. Comfort w plays. Chemistry "off the roof" among # plyrs."

TA: I'm having fun... I know every (play) & I know where to go w the ball, & just knowing how to get the ball out at certain times"

Asked Tommy how much better he is at "touch" passes, screens & high % he's struggled w. "Much better, mainly b/c of repetitions"

Having thrown so many short passes in 7-on-7, scrimmages, down-&-distance, game strategies, "I've gotten way more comfortable" -Tommy

We're would VV go? He only has one year of eligibility left, so a transfer isn't likely and he has a long ways to go to be ready for the NFL.

I'd say VV is at least a second or third round choice if he has a very good year. Collins is a top 10 pick, maybe top 5.

- Tommy: Langsdorf is checking plays at line of scrimmage for now. Once # are on same page, that's when QB will be able to check out.

- Jerald Foster says he feels he developed into a real offensive lineman this year, and that the whole o-line feels more like a family because of Mike Cavanaugh's influence on the group.

-Jamal Turner said he’s gunning to replace the injured De’Mornay Pierson-El as the punt returner. Turner, who lost 25 pounds from the offseason, said he feels the best he ever has on the field.

— Graduate assistant Tavita Thompson expects to play a lot of tight ends this year, though he doesn’t know how they will be rotated at this point.

VV is a 7th round draft choice who will get cut if he doesn't kick his motor into the next gear. Guy could be great if he'd go hard all the time.

Agreed. I'm waiting to see if he could explode onto the scene this year. He has all of the tools, just needs to rev up that motor and get it rolling. That group is going to be Nasty. Kevin "i'm not a backup Williams" plays good ball and Maurice does well too. Looking forward to see Mick Stoltenberg get in there as well. We are going to be pretty nasty at DT for years to come if the twins pan out.
