Extremely OT Thread

Well that sounds like an opinion and not fact. It may in fact be fact but how would one really know unless you have a formula that proves what you are saying?

How would you suggest that they are calculated?

I found this.

To calculate inflation based on a "real feel" or "true" inflation number, we would typically take into account factors such as:

  1. Cost of Living Adjustments: These are often considered to be a more accurate measure of inflation than just the Consumer Price Index (CPI), because they account for changes in the cost of things like housing, healthcare, food, and transportation that impact people’s real-world spending power.
  2. Wages: If wages have not kept up with inflation, the "real feel" impact of inflation would be more significant, as people may feel that they’re working harder for the same or less purchasing power.
  3. Consumer Experience: Real feel inflation also considers things like convenience, changes in product size, quality, or availability of goods. In many cases, prices may go up, but the quality of items might decrease, meaning people experience a bigger financial strain than the basic inflation data shows.

Real Feel Calculation

Real feel inflation is harder to calculate precisely, but here are key elements that could be factored in:

  • Adjusted for Housing & Healthcare: These are often the largest contributors to the real cost of living and inflation. If housing or healthcare costs have risen significantly faster than CPI, the true inflation rate for a household might be higher.
  • Quality Adjustments: Changes in the amount or quality of products people buy (e.g., smaller packages at the same price or lower-quality products) are important to account for in "real feel" inflation.
While the CPI gives a general inflation estimate, many people feel the effects of inflation more deeply in specific areas that impact daily life.

A More Comprehensive Approach

To adjust for real feel inflation, one might:

  1. Look at average wage growth versus actual cost increases for housing, food, healthcare, and energy.
  2. Compare individual experiences: If specific categories of spending, like healthcare or education, have seen extreme increases, those could outweigh general CPI numbers for many individuals.
Though it's a more subjective approach, real feel inflation often suggests a higher impact than official CPI figures might show, particularly for those whose wages aren't keeping pace with their rising living costs.

Would you like to explore this in more detail or get insights on any specific area of inflation?

LOL. You guys crack me up with how you go about garnering facts. I showed you factual information based on the best readily available on a free search mechanism. Even go as far as providing information that backs up your argument to an extent, and you come back with "abandoning humanity." LOL

You are bent in arguing the last few days. And you have been the biggest driver in baiting people into political spats. What gives? Bored? No life?

You (or your bot) said itself, these are subjective statements. Feels like you really aren’t even proof-reading these things you’re posting. Already proving my point about your lack of humanity. So those aren’t “facts” but nice try 👍🏼

It's entertaining and makes for good conversation. This really shouldn't be political. Just a discussion about how inflation is figured and how do you go about verifying the numbers.

How are they not facts? Just because you don't agree with them? Come on.... do better. I can even give you sources if you want... But that really wouldn't matter to you would it?

So no life. Because this is as far from entertaining on a football message board. No life…. Got it

I just told you how they’re not facts, YOUR bot literally spells it out…subjective. “Real feel”. We are using opinion vs opinion right now so it’s pointless.

You are fantasizing that your bot is giving you “just the facts” when it’s telling you itself that it is not. Sure there is some fact in most anything anyone says, in our case there is also a lot of opinion. Goodbye bot.

LOL. Ok. Well It's a pretty dead time of year for a football board, especially in Nebraska. And it's funny how these post with these conversations tend to spark a lot of conversation. To each their own bud!

Yes....Trying to support your argument that the "formula used for inflation is not accurate." So the only support I could find for YOUR argument was what I posted, that you are now arguing against. LOL Silly boy!

I never said your last copy and paste was totally incorrect though. Some of it is kind of what I was initially saying to you. So idk what we’re arguing anymore. Also don’t see any sources listed for “fact source” queen over here. Silly stuff indeed. Maybe “running it again” will solve more problems for us? LOL

I actually did point out that he was correct in 1 instance out of 50. Now admit you're wrong, bitch.
That’s actually not true as well. You can use ebt in other states at Taco Bell if that specific location is part of the Restaurant Meal Program (RMP) .. do you get tired of being wrong all the time?

Might be true, but It's a free country with a free market. If one believes in limited overreach these fast food places should be free to make their food as unhealthy as they want in order to make as much money as possible. If the consumer buys it...That's on them. Personal responsibility plays a major part in this poisoning that you speak of.

Just playing devil's advocate here. (kind of)

Absolutely.

It's why blaming insurance companies that don't cover your lifetime of terrible health habits is ridiculous.

It's very limited in general, not to mention if Taco Bell is participating. Sorry that doesn't conform with your politics that we should bully EBT recipients. Here are the conditions:

Which Clients can use their SNAP Benefits at Restaurants?

To be eligible for the RMP, SNAP clients must be certified for SNAP in a state that has an RMP and all members of the household must be either:

  • Elderly (60 years of age or older);
  • disabled (receives disability or blindness payments or receives disability retirement benefits from a governmental agency because of a disability considered permanent);
  • homeless; or
  • a spouse of a SNAP client who is eligible for the RMP.

Which Restaurants can Participate in the RMP?

To participate in the RMP, the restaurant must:

  • Be in a state that has an RMP.
  • Get approval from the state and provide a signed agreement to FNS.
  • Be authorized by FNS to accept SNAP benefits.
Btw, only 9 states participate in this program.

You know being fat counts as a disability , right?

And yes - we should bully ebt . Bring shame back to this country !

I worked at a gas station my senior year of high school (1999). Gas was 99 cents a gallon. We know that's risen. A pack of Marlboro Lights was $3.00. It's like $12 now in Missouri. Also, I'm never eating at Taco Bell. An ex girlfriend once said that's where you go to get diarrhea. Hard pass.

Hey, just wondering…. You still have her number?

I worked for a farmer $12 for a ten-hour day in my summer before my senior year of high school (1972). Gas was anywhere from $.21 to $.36 depending on the competition locally. I don't remember what Marlboros or Salems, Kools or Winstons cost because we pooled together with a "Smoke Shop" concealed discreetly in cardboard box that once held quick crush packs of ice for athletics stored under the passenger seat of my 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 4-door with a padded dash. I do remember being outraged having to pay $1 in JFK airport for a pack of Marlboros on my journey to Berlin as an A1C USAF in 1974.
Taco Bell aint it. Taco Johns is the only solution for franchised American Mexican. Hell, I would even spend a night with your diarrhea ex if she paid for a couple dozen soft shells w/o salsa and beer until I had had enough. Let's clean you up girl.

Okay that was pretty good with "diarrhea ex".

Taco Bell was the shit to go in 1999 as a kid. Low prices, good food and I want to say they gave out Pokemon cards/collectibles with the meals. Loved going there.

Or was that another fast food joint? At any rate it was fun because I remember getting some kind of freebies at Taco Bell back then.

Taco Bell is still a popular spot for HS age kids. Their dollar menu is decent and you can still get quite a bit for a reasonable price.

Watched "#24" on Netflix last nite...very surprised at how good it was...normally steer away from foreign films that overdub with English, glad i gave this one a go. Riveting, enough so you want to keep watching after it ends and all the updates and get close enough to the TV to read all of it so you don't miss anything. Love me sum WW2 docs and movies, and have been drawn to more personal stories lately, this is one of the better films i've seen in a decade, at least.

Was it a doc or a movie?

When I was in high school and working at the movie theater, the Taco Bell in Thornton, Colorado was right across Washington Street from the North Valley Mall. I was making a whopping $2.50/hr and when I worked the closing shifts, most of us would get off work and head over to eat, a few dollars could get you stuffed full! And back then it was made fresh and tasted really good.

And the original Enchirito was a corn tortilla, not flour. They ruined it when they switched.
