Expectations for a new coach recruiting on 1 months notice.

Zero.

GBR

Can't agree. Two things:
1. Frost knows the talent across the nation. He gets all the services and knows the players during his recruiting at UCF. It isn't like all of a sudden he had to learn who all these guys are and start the process. He certainly was able to focus in the Florida area but there are always going to be kids nationally that you see on film.

2. Some of the previous staff are still there and all of the recruiting info is available to them. Who did they offer, when and why. Who were they not going to offer they were looking at and why, what changed. Who wants to come and has expressed interest if a spot opens up, etc. It isn't like the cupboard is bare

Certainly we can't expect a top 10 class. I won't speculate where it will end up but wherever it does end up won't be because of lack of effort both during the season and now.

Bullshit.

You hire someone to inject new energy into the program. That means recruiting. If a new coach can't get some movement on the recruiting front, then that's a huge warning sign you have the wrong person.

Losing recruits who committed to the previous staff doesn't really concern me, because recruiting is mostly about relationships. Not being able to generate some excitement about the direction of the program would concern me. Fortunately, Scott Frost isn't having that problem.

Remember; Scott was at OREGON with Kelly for several years. Don't you think they didn't recruit, must know a few kids.

With Martinez- our Rivals average star rating is 3.4
That is about 18th best

This group is doing a great job- given the short time and limitations of the situation

They should end up in the 30- 35 area- if NU is allowed to sign 21
This would put us ahead of:
Illinois
Purdue
Minny
Northwestern
Iowa
And even Wisconsin

YEs- leading the West- even under these circumstances

With a MUCH bigger class size in 2019, a full year to recruit and positive movement/momentum on the field 6-7 wins- expect a top 20-25 class to follow next year

I'm just guessing but if we can hold that near that 3.4 and get 21 I think that will be in top 25. The key is holding the 3.4. We need to find us 4 or 5 more 4 stars. So many have been picked over.

To add 10-11 more- staying at 3.4 would be tough. That would mean roughly adding 4 four stars and 6 three stars and losing no one. This late in the game- that's tough, Plus SF likes those small RBs and smaller Olinemen that usually don't rate real high. Areas of need OL- and Dline- pickings are pretty slim now.

Finishing it out in the low 30s or maybe even the high 20s would be a real big accomplishment, given the equation.

"I can say, I played at Nebraska. It makes me very proud."

The early risers at Lincoln...

"I think Nebraska fans are the Greatest Fans in all of College Football, no question in my mind..."

I think it’s safe to say that Coach Frost and his assistants have exceeded whatever expectations their may be. They seem to be working their a$$es off.

Our new coaches are going after it like they expect the players to play....and that is at 100 MPH. I don't care if these recruits have stars or not. The coaching staff knows the deal and will put a fine team on the field. Heck; we will be known as the Oregon of the Mid-west. Think about that for awhile...

I'd rather just be known as Nebraska

Does Frost prefer smaller linemen?

His line against Memphis went
325-305-320-340-306

Against Iowa we played
295-310-300-315-280

He had big, strong guys at UCF, will be interesting to see what happens with our line

I love how every year we all turn in to recruiting experts.

Truth of the matter is probably only about half of the recruiting class turn out to be contributors. That is just the way it is, through no fault of the staff and even in some instances through no fault of the player either. Players transfer for different reasons, players get injured, players some times just don't pan out.

You just hope that those guys that don't pan out are not at critical positions.
