Lincoln – The final piece of Nebraska’s 2016-17 television schedule was completed today as ESPN and CBS announced their Big Ten schedules for the season.
The Huskers will make four appearances on the ESPN family of networks in Big Ten play, highlighted by the home game against Michigan State on Feb. 2. That game, which will also feature the jersey retirement ceremony for Tyronn Lue, will tip off at 6 p.m. and be televised nationally on ESPN or ESPN2. NU will also make a trio of ESPNU appearances for Big Ten road games at Rutgers (Jan. 21, 11 a.m. CT), Michigan State (Feb. 23, 6 p.m. CT) and Minnesota (March 2, 6 p.m. CT).
The Huskers could potentially make one CBS appearance, as the game at Ohio State the weekend of Feb. 18-19 is an option for that weekend. If the game is not selected by CBS, it will be televised nationally on BTN.
As part of today’s announcement, two additional non-conference games have been selected for broadcast. The Huskers’ non-conference matchup against Garner-Webb on Sunday, Dec. 18, will start at 1 p.m. and be televised by ESPNU, while NU’s matchup with Louisiana Tech will be carried on ESPN3. The start time for that game, which will be an evening game at PBA, will be determined once the Husker football start time against Maryland is determined.
With today’s announcement, all 30 regular-season games will be available on either television or internet, including at least 15 appearances on BTN, 11 on the ESPN family of networks and one potentially on CBS.
The first time fans can see the 2016-17 Huskers in action is against Chadron State on Monday, Nov. 7, at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
