Eight former Northwestern football players have hired an attorney to sue the school

Oh ok, just keep the perpetrators on staff, have them continue to coach the same kids because it’s too convenient…Jesus Christ miss some fall camp if you have to. There are a ton of football coaches who would love the chance at even an interim opportunity here. Didn’t Ed Orgeron just say he was interested?? I’d be shocked if they could actually do that well in a normal hiring situation. Just get the rot out for God’s sake it’s not that hard.
See, it either IS a big deal or it is NOT a big deal.

So by keeping the entire staff except for Pat, they are saying that it is not that big of a deal BUT we had to do something.

The argument of "well, practice starts in 15 days" means that FB is more important.

football is, of course, not what's more important

getting their names out of the headlines is what's more important

Who would you find in 15 days to coach D1 football. You honestly can’t be this thick.
80

Funny none of this didn’t come out when they were winning the West division..
It was too inconvenient for @Big bo fan . Let’s make sure we have proven D-1 coaches at Northwestern first guys, so they can win maybe one more game this year. Who cares if they subjected kids to sex stuff or whatever???

Absolutely wild these people are allowed in public.

Any lawyers or anyone know how he gets paid? Does he just attach his name to it and have interns do the legal work until he shows up if there is a trial and then just collects the settlement?

take it for what it's worth. But I heard on the radio about that the Atlantic director refused meetings that players and coaches requested to discuss the issues within the program. If true. Another Big institution sweeping it under the rug.

They promoted a guy to head coach that wasn't on the staff last season, and presumably at no time this stuff was going down. They have, I believe 3 other new staff members. Perhaps it was these individuals who helped out the crap that was going on. I would also imagine there is going to be a bunch of eyes on the day to day operations to ensure none of the ****ery continues. While it is not ideal, I would imagine the hazing will stop for the next few months, then in December they can fire everyone and start over. If a player doesn't feel safe, they can leave, so there is a remedy in place.

I am pretty sure they will be looking for a new AD pretty soon as well.

Just another example of the pussification of America. Back in the 80s we could gangbang our teammates ad nauseum and just laugh it up with the coaches. Gangbanging college football players is a challenge compared to helpless coeds.

Playing football at that school would be hard enough to really enjoy hefore this...it's going to be even more miserable going forward and will be full of dudes who want the degree and then to floor it on their way out of town.

The AD was hired in 21 , barely 2 years . I would say the College President would be on the block he ran the investigation and decided on a 2 week suspension. And I agree on the staff it’s not ideal but you can’t bring in a new staff in 15 days but i as blasted for that.

You were gangbanging your teammates?

^^^^^This^^^^. These victims were not little kids. They were adult athletes who went along with the hazing because they felt like they "had to" in order to be a part of the team. That stinks as an environment, but as adults they should have gone to the head coach, lodged a formal complaint, told him his players are assholes, and then put their name in for a transfer to a different school.

I once got a new job back in the late 80's when I was still in my twenties. And on the first day my manager, a woman, started hitting on me even though she knew I was married. She pulled the usual bullshit tactic of telling me that all of the people who worked there did this kind of thing and that if I knew what was good for me I would go along with it. I told her to go to hell. I went to her boss, filed a complaint, then quit on the spot. I did not threaten to sue anyone. I did not want anyone's money. I just wanted a different job where people acted like adults. And I found one.

These players who are now retaining a lawyer to get money out of the school are gold digging cry babies.
You playing hard to get probably turned your manager on even more. Nice power move!

Obviously not good news for Northwestern. In addition to whatever this winds up costing them financially, dragging it through the legal system extends the bad publicity. And of course Northwestern used its academic reputation to recruit kids in the past but now it has to fight this bad publicity with new recruits.

Just saw that the lawsuit is up to 12 players and is expected to grow a lot larger than that. Time to throw them out of the conference, right Mr Wilbon? This is going to cost them lots and lots of millions. So much for that $800 million stadium. Maybe rent a high school field in Evanston instead.

It’s a mess , the Former AD is now listed as a defendant in some of the New lawsuits. I am I’ll be interesting if Fitz gets named personally in any. And just think those two clowns Wilbon and Desmond Howard wanted us thrown out just because we wanted to play in the Covid year.

Crimes against humanity, just business as usual. Nothing to see here.

Too bad so sad. Find someone who didn’t condone purge mask humping and lay in the bed you made.
I felt they should have hired a HC "older high character guy that's "Retired" for the season that can baby sit the current staff. Knowing full well that it's just a 1 year paycheck.

They gave the job the a New guy who wasn’t around for any of this. You can’t completely clean house 3 weeks before practice starts.and there is no proof All or sny current staff members knew.

My post didn't say clean house. It was to bring in a guy that can right the ship for 1 year. A high character guy. And move on when the new HC comes in and brings in his staff
