While Riley is well known for being an outstanding talent evaluator, after seeing him here, and several other coaches offering nearly sight unseen immediately after we offered, I have to wonder: did a lot of coaches do the same thing while he was at Oregon State?
I have a feeling this is nothing new for him, although now he has the guns to ward off the attacks.
Riley was the best talent evaluator in the Pacific 12, and one of the best in the nation, but other coaches knew it. Especially after the rise of social media and recruiting sites, it's become very difficult to keep offers a secret. I have to imagine that played a significant factor in his ability to get underrated and overlooked guys on campus.
Thoughts?
