Duby Boom Nebrasketball

I hope so, because if we don't then he is going to have to sit on the bench if Nebraska is lucky enough to have close games in crunch time. That is assuming he hasn't already fouled out.
You want Jordy in the game at the end anyways depending on if the situation calls for a true center. This guy was a must get for us.

We have a sports psychologist at NU. Winthrop I don't believe does. At least half of free throw shooting is psychological and the rest is repetition and muscle memory. Maybe we can help him. Maybe not. It is possible though.
He would have to be allowed to focus and practice shooting. Not just defense.

I imagine if NU has a lead in the last four minutes, you'll see either Jordy or Copeland at the 5. Dube can give us 5-6 minutes per half to give Jordy a rest. Further, I think if you have Dube out there, you also make sure you have four good shooters with him looking for 3's or for Dube on an easy pick-and-roll jam. Surprisingly, we may actually have four pretty good 3-point shooters — Watson, Allen, McVeigh/Gill/Palmer/Akenten and Copeland — for a rotation or two in each half.

So has anyone heard where Morrow and Jacobsen are going yet?
Not sure, but I don't think either has announced where they are going. I read that Morrow is supposed to visit Iowa State this weekend, with other possibilities being Xavier (which signed the grad transfer big man from Wisconsin-Green Bay) and Marquette. I haven't read much about Jacobson.

Is that why we couldn't make any free throws last year?

As a team we shot 71% from the free throw line. Not too bad considering that Ed's 61% drug that number down a bit. Dube shot free throws at 52% the year before this last. He's proven that he can do better than what he did this year.

Well, we desperately needed a big and a shooter. We got both this week. I like that he can come in and play defense and sweep those boards.

He's really a perfect fit for what he'll be asked (or actually get) to do in Miles' offense next year. They needed a guy to defend the low block, be able to pull down some in traffic rebounds and block a few shots. On offense, all he will need to do is be able to run to the guy with the ball and screen for him. Maybe get a couple putbacks now and then. He won't get the ball much, but that's OK since he's a poor shooter. Really a decent pick up.

However, anyone who says that he's comparable to Morrow either has an agenda or doesn't know much about basketball.

It's a beautiful sunny day.....ok now it's your turn. Winthrop likes to play an up tempo small ball game and they have the guys to do it. They won their conference doing that. Okeke was a situational role player for them. IMO due to the number of teams in the B1G with true big men, his skills will translate better to our conference than it did theirs. I'm not touting him as Carl Anthony Townes. I'm saying he will fill a HUGE need and get more opportunities for us than he did for them due to the type of opponents we play.

Tim Miles plays slow tempo, small ball. That kid will be a situation role player at NU with similar stats next year, but still a good one year fill in for a coach who must show vast improvement.

Uh, something tells me Ed Morrow gets more than 14 minutes per game if he's at Winthrop last year, so I don't think they're exactly the same. But considering it's nearly May, this is an important addition to the roster.

I really doubt if Okeke even attempts six shots per game next year, so it's going to be tough for him to average 12 points. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. I would rather have a PF who doesn't shoot than a guy who insists on clanking jumpers at a 30% clip (cough, cough - Oh, sorry Jake - didn't see you standing there...)

Ed Morrow would be an absolute beast in the Big South Conference. No comparison between the two, but this kid will fill the role of backup post nicely. Set a good screen, rebound, front the post. Hopefully he can catch and pass (no joke there, lots of posts cannot do that effectively). A very good pickup for a desperate program.

Definitely agree he's a good pickup - but you're saying his scoring output isn't going to quadruple??? Dammit - I had already taken that to the bank.

Oh great, another 6'8" white guy. The good news is he's from Princeton so he's used to a slow offense!

The best thing about this guy is he's missed the majority of the last two years because of knee injuries. So we got that goin' for us...

This guy could be as good as we're going to get. I understand the lack of excitement about him, but this kid if I recall correctly (and I don't care enough to check) is German and a decent 3 point shooter. So in that Tim Miles offense that so many of us hate, he'll be a good fit as a pick and pop guy. Basically the opposite of the other transfer big guy. Those two transfers really could be a nice duo coming off the bench for one year.

The really stupid thing in all of this is the fact that Tim Miles hasn't recruited more than one true post for his program at a time. He got Jordy and then stopped. Jordy had no one his size or bigger to battle with in practice and help him get better. Other programs that we should be copying usually have three.
