NU was the only school to host him on a visit after he left Oregon (barely cracked the top 160 portal rankings).
I don't know that he had a single other offer. certainly can't find any evidence of it anywhere online.
it's likely he'll have more (and closer to home) options this time around.
we'll see where he ends up.
@Walleye79, @Lincoln100 please post any and all evidence Dowdell had other offers besides NU after leaving Oregon.

neither he nor any recruiting outlet reported on any other visits or offers, which is very common practice.
no outlet reports a single additional offer to ours.
he came to NU because it was his only option.
and now he's played his way into perhaps others closer to home.
would make plenty of sense.
I don't believe his entering the portal has anything to do with our HC, OC or with his competition (lol) in the RB room.
A lot of these portal guys don't publicize there recruitment. Butler putting out a top five before the portal even opened was bizarre and it's proof of illegal (or sorta technically legal) contact from those schools.

it would be very curious for Dowdell to post pics of his visit to NU, make a post about being offered by NU and for some reason decline to do so for other schools if they indeed took place (they didn't).

Because these are student athletes, and a ton of resources are wasted making sure transfer credits align. School administrators and professors have better things to do than cater to entitled kids transferring to their 4th school in 4 years, all while they already have to make special arrangements for in season schedules. It's a joke that unlimited transfers was ever allowed. Which is why we have the system we do now where every player on the roster is just a mercenary and will go to the highest bidder. The system is a complete mess, and far more college athletes are harmed by it than will stand to benefit.
Butler's value is in the bargain bin compared to Nwaneri who is like a shiny new sports car. Will it make a difference on the field? That's yet to be determined.
This is not a bad argument. With that said, the school(s) does have the power to just say "No" we won't accept you and a lot of schools will not accept senior transfers.
This argument might be the best one so far but it really falls on the school(s) and what they want to do.
Also, "regular" students can transfer over and over.
Just to play devil's advocate does that mean the Nwaneri had no interest either? He didn't even take a visit and just commited to Nebraska.

Wow! You are correct. So that means it is never the QBs responsibility to change the play OR call a timeout. It’s ALWAYS the coach’s responsibility only.

and frankly, I hope DR takes all timeout responsibility away from Rhule, who has proven grossly incapable of handling that part of his job. this episode is just one of many, many examples.
On the contrary. It is ALWAYS the QBs job to make certain decisions in his pre-snap read. What was said was it can’t be put on DR because it happens in the NFL. I played the position in college and my coach taught us and gave us the responsibility to catch those things. Coverages, defensive alignment, where the ball is placed, down & distance, etc. I didn’t catch a break as a freshman. DH says that DR doesn’t act like a freshman. HCMR said they weren’t going to treat DR like a typical freshman QB. IF DR is as good as we think he is, this is stuff he should know and execute. OSU wasn’t his first game of the season nor his first B1G game. Anyone that can’t understand that is ignorant. So if the shoe fits…
I read a hint a few days ago somewhere that he might have some academic issues to resolve. That never seems to stop guys from getting enrolled at NU lately.

Rhule should've called timeout before we broke the huddle, and certainly before Scott put his hand on the ball.
I'm not the ignorant one here. you have shoved your head too far up your own argument to admit you are plainly wrong in this situation.
we call a play for the .5 yard line and the ball is spotted at the 3, you call timeout as the head coach. could the 18 year old QB have bailed him out? sure. but it's not on him. and, frankly, given Rhule's lack of attention to detail in these situations, I wouldn't be surprised if the offensive braintrust never discussed these scenarios with DR in the first place.
it's the head coach's ultimate responsibility to put the team in their best position to succeed. he failed to do so here. the end.

The Huskers were completely off his radar when the native of Picayune, Mississippi, entered the portal Dec. 14. But position coach E.J. Barthel got his attention while describing the opportunity within a position group of four returning scholarship players
Nebraska was far from the only interested school, he said. He traveled to Mississippi State in December and had options to tour Texas A&M or Missouri on Sunday before the visiting window closed. Other places — “almost all the schools you could think of,” he said — at least reached out to inquire on him including Ohio State, Tennessee and Oklahoma State.
