Dowdell to the portal

It is more that this is what CFB should have looked like for years. Think how many ****ing college players were just stuck at a school with no chance to play with almost no chance to leave. All because when they were 17/18 they picked a certain school. That is crazy when you really think about it.
Almost no chance to leave? How’s that?

I get what he’s thinking. He has little chance of making real money in the NFL… got get it while he can. Those TD #s look enticing to some collective

Reactions: headcard
College football is dying with the portal. I have been a big CF fan. But, this year I skipped 2-3 husker games on TV and I have dropped the pay board on this site. I have no interest in our "bowl game" or many other bowl games for that matter. The shifting of talent is hard to keep on and frankly uninteresting. It is clear Nebraska will never "back" because any success will be met with defection. The old days are clearly over. Younger folks may adjust but the allure is wearing thin for me.

So the question is he wanting to move on or is he just wanting to get paid more to stay?

I thought he ran a lot better once Holgorsen took over. I'm not happy to see him go. In the past you'd plan on a guy like this coming back and taking his game to another level. I'm in the minority because I don't blame anyone for this environment, but it kinda sucks.

Tim Beck said it best, you're not building a program, you're just trying to build a team each season. P4 teams have it better than a school like Coastal, but a lot of it still applies.

What plays with this kid ever seemed like it was his individual talent? His highlights were always great blocking and lanes or scheme by the OC. He was struggling when he got here to grasp the culture and especially the playbook. If he was even a true prospect....uncle Phil would have kept him in Eugene.

I'm all for paying Emmet but he can find a new home in the market. And let's take whatever we spent on him and parlay it towards an OT.

He was a running back with poor vision and couldn’t make guys miss. This is not a huge loss imo
His poor vision left a lot of yards on the table. He would be a decent back if that improved, but he's not going to juke anyone, it's not in his DNA. He wants to run people over or attempt to jump over them.

That said, I think he will be missed, pending any additions. We could use some experience in that room.

I'm not thrilled about losing an experienced RB going into the bowl game.
Me neither but it won’t make my day if we finish 7-6 vs 6-7. One result is mediocrity and so is the other - and the 3-6 league record really says a lot about who we are regardless of this game’s outcome.

I hope we use this time to get a jump on next Fall and if the guy was planning to leave why waste any more practice or game reps on him? We have a lot of redshirts and true freshman who figure to play next year and they can really benefit from this month, if given the reps.

Why the heck was someone having him leap from the four????
If you’re talking about the Ohio State game, Rhule said they called that play thinking that the ball was going to be spotted at the one yard line, but the refs placed it farther back. I don’t know why they didn’t change the play when they saw where the ball was actually spotted. If we had scored there, the outcome of the game might have been different.
