Dowdell to the portal

you are missing the forest for the trees, bud.

after seeing the spot, we should've never even lined up in the first place.

Rhule should've called timeout before we broke the huddle, and certainly before Scott put his hand on the ball.

I'm not the ignorant one here. you have shoved your head too far up your own argument to admit you are plainly wrong in this situation.

we call a play for the .5 yard line and the ball is spotted at the 3, you call timeout as the head coach. could the 18 year old QB have bailed him out? sure. but it's not on him. and, frankly, given Rhule's lack of attention to detail in these situations, I wouldn't be surprised if the offensive braintrust never discussed these scenarios with DR in the first place.

it's the head coach's ultimate responsibility to put the team in their best position to succeed. he failed to do so here. the end.
1. The ball wasn't spotted at the 3 yard line. Get your facts straight before making a comment that proves you don't really know what you're claiming. 2. You failed to read, or more likely, understand, what I wrote. I never disagreed that it's the coach's responsibilty. What I said, again, is that DR could have called a time out when he noticed where the ball was placed and what the play call was. DR also could have made lemonade out of lemons by pulling the ball and making a play - but he didn't. You are fine with the fact that our 5* QB didn't do any of the things that he had the ability to do. BOTH the coaches and DR are guilty. Satt should have been in his ear up until 15 seconds, but probably wasn't - at least not coaching him as he should have on that play. Does DR have any responsibility on that play? Any? Is he ever allowed to change the play at the LOS? Is he ever allowed to call a timeout when he sees the defensive alignment won't lead to a successful play? You are the one who's digging the hole and your ignorance in this part of the game is glaring. Have a great day! Oh, and you too Huskers123456.

Or he was fishing for offers ahead of time.
Yeah. Agents talking to agents. Probably the schools talking to the agent first, but it doesn't really matter.

What a joke college football has become. For years, some folks cried out for athletes to get a slice of the revenue or the chance to profit from their "name and likeness". And now, we've got players going to the highest bidder, threatening to transfer, going into the portal, whatever. Now there's talk about schools needing general managers with a director of operations, salary managers, and heavens knows what else.

You also seem to have failed to read the part of my post where I said “sure, DR could’ve bailed out the head coach by calling timeout”

Funny

Rest is TL;DR
