Does This Inspire Confidence?

Kongs little quip about “be nice. Remember they are kids”. He’s inferring that what they are doing doesn’t align with “winning football games”. There is negative connotation there. He’s a turd.

I took it as starting a discussion while mocking the "we shouldn't criticize them because they're kids" crowd, but feel free to infer whatever you want I guess. Some of you have such a boner for Kong that no matter what he says, you're going to call it "trolling" (which most of you use incorrectly). If it weren't for him and a small handful of other posters who can discuss things objectively, this place would just be an echo chamber of Husker homers. It'd be Husker Max.

We root for the team, and the players. Just because the players get paid now, doesn’t mean we own them, or their free time.

yeah, one of the portal/nil downsides - fans now even booing their teams. i heard it down here during k-state's loss to arizona state and could not believe my ears. fans see these guys not as student-athletes, many in their teens, but rather professionals who owe them something. it's really a sad change to the gameday experience.

I

It neither does nor doesn't inspire confidence (I assume you're referring to confidence in their ability to play football). But it sure is something to consider when fans blast these kids for having the audacity to lose football games at times. A bunch of goofy college kids playing a game, and way too often it is considered a life and death proposition by purported adults who cheer on the teams the kids play for.
They stopped being "just kids" when they started making more money than I do.
