Does our CEO and former NFL HC know how to build a championship roster? Or is his real name Matt Fhule?
Let's assume Malachi transfers as is rumored. How can you blame the kid? No one is making plays except for Barney at WR, but he gets redshirted. He made some big plays in a limited offense last year and was physical as a blocker. People say he has a bad attitude, but apparently that wasn't the case last year when he played significantly as a true freshman. So what changed?
On the flip side, Carter Nelson has needlessly burned his redshirt so that could try jumping over the goal line. He hasn't touched the ball since. Redshirt burned.
Our single digit senior leaders never get held accountable. Hartzog, Gifford, and (surprisingly) Tommi Hill are liabilities who break down in clutch moments. I would put Banks in this category on the offensive side as well.
Riley Van Poppel is a total beast, a mountain of a man. He is being redshirted.......why? He is one of our most promising young players. What are we saving him for? He still has two years of eligibility even after Ty and Nash leave. Play the kid and use his success to recruit 3 more just like him.
Let us not forget the match made in hell, the Satterfield/Sims combo we were given last year. That's what we rolled with last year. It had a 0% chance of working. Our staff (falls on the HC) has woefully failed in identifying difference makers at the skill positions in the portal. Sims, Kemp, Neyor, Banks, Dowdell - all needed to have big roles for our offense to be effective the last two years. None have delivered.
All this leads me to say - what are his strengths as an HC? Almost two full years into his tenure he has not improved our roster and he has proven to be a poor in game tactician. So is he truly the CEO we were led to believe he was? Or is he a Fhule?
I'm going with the latter.
