In short he let it be known he does not appreciate the tabloid media taking shots at him. What are your thoughts? I appreciate all comments.

I would be pissed if I were him.
He took a lot of heat for not doing a pressor after the game.

He was told SPECIFICALLY (his words) he would not have post game media responsibilities.

Whoever told him that should own up as it caused Diaco a lot of grief

It's sounds like there was no miscommunication, in fact, Diaco states things were communicated very clearly that he wouldn't be doing post game media.

The media should be criticizing whomever it was who told him he didn't have post game media responsibilities. I can't believe a reporter didn't ask him who told him that.

People complain about "coach speak". People complain when "being too real with reporters". People complain about "Not talking at all". I swear it's like a Dr. Suess book with the media/some people on this board.
The sports media in this state is a joke. Hacks who try to outdo each other through tabloid article s and soul selling.

Riley took responsibility for it.

They expect everyone they cover to act like grown adults, but as soon as someone says or does something they don't like, bunch of children.
After they didn't have Bo and Beck to kick around they spent a couple years sharpening their knives, then went after Diaco. Unfortunately, they went after someone who won't play their game.

I was impressed with what he said and how he handled it. Sounds like the situation was a mistake of communication. I also appreciated that Diaco said that he sees how it looked from the medias perspective.

His interviews are always interesting. He is an eccentric dude.

The media today always tries to make the story about them. Journalists act like they are celebrities now. I think Twitter is a big part of this. They get thousands of "followers" and "likes" and think they are more important than they are.

He made some good points. The defense plan worked, but ASU scored 19 points either from special teams/the refs. After calming down a bit, the defense wasn't great, but it wasn't throw in the towel for season awful either. I'm hopeful we'll see a much improved defense next week. Also, Diaco needs to be the official press liaison. A lot of people who needed to be called out were.

He said Riley told him.

Should players not speak to media after games either?
Same principle, I guess. I wouldn't see anything wrong with having the single voice of the head coach after the game, with everyone else speaking a day or two later. This is thinking in terms or running the organization, of course, as as a fan I wouldn't love it.

I like what he said. There are some media types that 1-feel they speak for the fan base. 2-cannot handle change or possible change (coordinators talking after games). 3- want to do whatever they can to start controversy. 4-they tend to put questions to players to try and push their agenda.

Lastly, I feel print media made a HUGE issue out of a non-issue. Just my opinion.

Why do I feel like I should be getting my hair and nails done and reading Glamour magazine when reading this thread?

Diaco could have nipped this in the bud by letting everyone know up front he doesn't do post game coverage..... I'm indifferent to any of this as it doesn't have anything to do with football.

So someone in the SID office dropped the ball, failing to communicate to Diaco that coordinators should be available to the media after the game. Fair enough.

But did Diaco really walk past reporters after the came, and when they asked to speak with him he said "No Comment"? Of is that just creative license by Barfknect?

I had not heard that until Lee B's article. But who knows.

I think the miscommunication was between Nebraska and the media, not between Riley and Diaco.

That makes the most sense. I think Diaco has worn big boy pants long enough that he wouldn't have been afraid to speak to the media if it was his understanding that he had Riley's permission to speak to them. It's not like this arrangement is unusual in college football.

So tired of coaches acting like "the media" is out to get them by seeking interviews when they know perfectly well interviews are part of the job.

It's real simple, Bobby.

GET OUT IN FRONT OF THE STORY.

You give up 500 yds to Ark St. people are gonna have questions. You don't answer the questions, they still have an obligation to turn in a story if they wanna collect paychecks. (Hint: they do wanna collect paychecks)

So if you want control of what that story is, you get up to the mic and put the words in their mouth for them. Just like Riley did.

Get up there for 3 minutes, be all, "Proud of the way our guys rallied, they never quit on us. Proud of their stop at the end. There were some things we liked and there's plenty to improve on, we're looking forward to working hard in practice and we're gonna go out there and improve every day."
