Football Deion Sanders wants to play his spring game against another team

do you enthusiastically profess your "love" of people who covered up serial molestation?

*Larry David voice* prettay prettay pretty weird

I love TO the coach but don't approve of many of things he turned a blind eye to. I love Lawrence Phillips the player but don't support everything he did including murder. I'm not saying these things apples/apples to what happened at PSU either but you hopefully get the point.

I think acceptable for player who played under Joe Pa to love him as coach/mentor and also be appalled by what occurred under his watch.
Hard to improve on this.

Do you remember @Front Runner talking about LP? It's an incredible listen if you haven't. You can absolutely love the person and not condone their actions.

I would bet most players that played for Tom would say the same about him, but he covered up a lot of bad stuff too.

Relationships are a complex thing, especially in Rhule's case when I'm assuming his relationship with JoePa was built before any of this was ever known. It's human nature that brains don't 100% unwire themselves in these regards, even when the person who played an important role in your life does some heinous stuff.

If Rhule came out an argued what happened at PSU never happened or was no big deal then Kong would have a valid point.

The fact anybody is comparing Osborne’s looking the other way on relatively few and far between isolated incidents to Paterno’s decades-long enablement of serial child rape and willful protection of a serial child rapist is frankly appalling

And speaks to how desperate you are to normalize Rhule’s worship of him

Disgusting. Wtf is wrong with you people?

And the last Spring Game I watched, it was filled with a bunch of back-ups and walkons who most people know would never contribute here. The Spring Game is many things but a good gauge of personnel/talent it rarely has ever been. If anything it just creates weird fan fiction like Brion Carnes is the next Tommie Frazier and should start immediately.

I can fully buy the argument the Spring Game gave fans/kids an opportunity to see a "game" who might not otherwise be able to afford to or that it was tradition/recruiting tool worth keeping. I don't one bit buy the argument we've ever "learned" anything about the team from a Spring Game and now we won't know what to think going into the season or will now ask the wrong questions to Rhule.
Has there ever been a spring season with more roster intrigue than this one?

We have to cut 50 players.

Apparently you don't know much about Tom or the 90s

Exactly. Why do I want to watch a game to see 50 guys (many of which who will know before the game they are cut) who won’t be with the team next season.

Or are you wanting us to believe the Spring Game was going to be how the coaches made their decisions.

I literally put in my post I’m not comparing the two situations but keep strawmaning away.

Simple fact is you can’t acknowledge my actual post so you revert back to hyperbole and rambling.

read this post of a mod here doubling down:

Apparently you don't know much about Tom or the 90s

as for yours, it's just a terrible example. these two don't belong in the same paragraph, much less sentence

I'd be more inclined to hear your pleas for Ted Bundy being a good tipper than your comparisons of TO and JoePa

reality is, if you loudly and proudly proclaim your love of someone everyone on planet Earth knows is a scumbag and enabled the molestation of multiple kids over decades, you're a big time weirdo.

Murder weapons ✅
Predators towards women ✅ (a certain d-lineman in the 90s for one)
LP dragging a woman down the stairs by her hair ✅

Yeah, they're miles apart. I'm not saying TO was as bad as Joe, they don't get any worse than kids...but geez some of the 90s stuff was downright awful.

I'm not defending Joe, he's a POS in my book. But it's different when you know someone and especially someone who had a big impact on your life in a good way.

My good friend had a best friend since childhood that double-murdered his GF and her new BF then off'd himself. He still loved the guy and just felt very sorry because he got so messed up.

If you're not intellectually honest about stuff like that, its hard to have a serious conversation.

you can love someone but not their actions

I get it

a very convenient "point"

you are what you do. actions >>> everything.
Nobody has argued against your last point.

Your argument again is if I say I like Lawrence Phillips, it means I too support murder. That’s dumb

No, my argument is if you sweep LP’s crimes under the rug and say his rushing totals will be what he’s remembered for just before proclaiming your love for him, it’s bizarre

That’s exactly what Rhule does with Joe Pa

Just come out and say it. You basically hate Matt Rhule.

Where did Rhule sweep anything under the rug? You kind of made that part up.

You also keep quoting a single interview Rhule gave in 2016 where he was specifically asked about him and making it seem like he’s praising Joe Pa every chance he gets.

“He will be remembered for his wins.”

An actual quote.

I’m aware. Ive seen the article from 2016 you keep referencing where the quote was “At the end of the day, people will talk about his wins”

Not sure how that equates to “sweeping it under the rug” unless you expected him to publicly slam Paterno.

I mean Fred Hoiberg is still employed by him.
Probably because his predecessors did these moronic extensions. Freds buyout is more than we had to pay Frost to go away. Thats dumb.

Lots to complain about with Dannen but don’t fault him for not being fast to pull the trigger on Fred.
