Touches on Holgerson and Snow a bit. More interesting is the stadium renovations and what avenues of revenue could be drawn from it.

thats smart what he said about building the south in 2 phases..that way you can get the foundation and everything right put up one level..do games....then go back and add the rest...then the financing of it can be spread out more too..

probably helps the work load too if they are doing other parts of the stadium also..

At least he’s upfront about doing away with grandfathered seats in Memorial.
He can so whatever because I think everyone is about at their end, but ending grandfathered seats might just end the program if they don't start winning at a pretty good clip. A half full stadium would officially make us every other terrible program.

That seems to be the attitude many fans have towards the seats and the renovations as a whole. Can’t say I disagree given the product on the field is poor.

I'll renew but I'm not paying 5 or 10 times my current donation to watch a 5 win team. I personally think these AD's are being short-sighted but I guess we'll find out.

I think the "grandfathered " refers to people who pay nothing. The LONG timers

Because you have never owned them.
My point is that he’s not dancing around the subject like Trev. He said it plain in simple that they want the 22 million in untapped revenue that the grandfathered seats don’t generate.

That doesn’t mean I support it, in fact I don’t. They’ve made it very clear that they no longer care about the families that have supported the program for generations.

Exactly. Who cares about the stadium when it will soon not even need the south end zone seats? Just tear down the south end and leave it empty if you are not going to bring in a coach who has an elite staff. We will soon only need a Rutgers sized stadium anyway. We are well on our way to being a perennial bottom dwelling program. Let that sink in! Nebraska football! Not just one of the worst programs in America but a perennial worst program. And with the fan support gone what is left to sell the program to recruits?

I hope the administration at NU understands that the bottom is about to fall out of NU football. That the fans have f$cking had it. That the last prop keeping this program alive — fan support— is right on the verge of evaporating. We saw signs of it the past few years with tons of empty seats for our “sold out” games. Rhule/Raiola gave it some cpr and momentarily revived it. But that hope has disappeared like a fart in a gale. Raiola is human and Rhule is a clueless gladhander.

To hell with the stadium. Pour every last nickel into buying the best players and coaches. Win. Just fricking win damn it. And if you can’t do that, then get the hell out. All of this talk about stadium upgrades really pisses me off. It makes me wonder if the AD is as tone deaf and clueless as our coach. Talking about $millions on stadium upgrades to a fan base watching our team suck the air out of the room every week is as thick headed as it gets.

Tough job constantly begging people for money
especially for a program that supposedly rakes in tons of B1G money and is given as our reason for being in this conference.

You know, the whole thing has become something that it didn't use to be. It's no longer organic, it's become engineered, from coaching, to recruiting, to referees, to playoffs, it's becoming one big 'gamified' turd. And some day, the masses of eyeballs might look at something else.

we won alot more running the ball, did'nt need to compete with everyone for every single player...like 3 guys on the 95 pipeline was within 50 miles of Lincoln...but someone decided we needed to go pass happy..is what it is..

It didn’t use to be but it has now being the norm, everyone asks for seating privileges for seats..

College football isn’t going away and it’s as popular as it ever was and it isn’t going away especially in the state of Nebraska..

At that point couldn’t you adjust the required donation? I didn’t realize over 40% weren’t paying anything.

I don't know what his proposal is and I don't have time to listen to that whole clip. Tried to find it but couldn't. Trev was planning on raising everyone to the donation required for a new ticket holder. That is $1500 or even $2000 in some sections. $270/game with our product and schedule. Insane. Not sure if Dannen is proposing the exact same.

If he's talking about bringing everyone up to $250 per seat per year, go for it.

He made the comment that it would be a revenue generator of up to $22M I believe. If that’s the case - there will a lot of people saying screw that. Which makes me think based on the product he will have to find a better balance of donations than the max that he thinks he could get.

Penny, you are so right. I had so much fun at the Colorado game. I was actually thinking about going back for another game this season. For me to go to a game at Memorial Stadium it is at least a three-day commitment and very expensive as I have to drive 2 1/2 hours to an airport, pay for airfare and buy game tickets on the secondary market. It is difficult to get too excited about flying halfway across the country to watch what we are seeing on the field. Most of these games have been so nauseating to watch. They are not enjoyable. I watch every minute on TV, but why incur the expense and time it takes to watch these games in person as long as the team is playing so poorly? (During the Frost years I used to write there had to be a bloody wall somewhere in Lincoln. From Frost pounding his head against it. I beginning to wonder if Rhule has found that wall.)

I think they are also referring to 2nd or 3rd generation like me, who "donate", but below what the university says is face level donation value.
Yeah I'm not sure. When I hear grandfathered I always assumed it was from before they were requiring booster $to have a chance at tickets. But when he said 43 percent, there can't be that many not booster tickets. I probably does include fixed amounts from prior years. I think the tickets in the 600 level are higher today than when we got them during the expansion.

This might be how they intend to trim the number of ticket holders with the addition of individual seats

There is some very strange/weird pricing. I was able to pay the same amount for two tickets in the West Club section (actual seats...indoor concessions/bathrooms/sitting area...etc.) for roughly the same basic location in the lower bowl west section (15 yard line-ish). I would have thought the club seats would be more but not going to complain.

From NU ticket office??
