CWS: The Road to Omaha

Not just that but most kids like playing baseball in warm weather. The first month of a Nebraska season is playing on the road in warm weather tournaments. Mainly because it's still cold, snowing and windy in the Big 10. So, of course the SEC and ACC have a huge advantage.

Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia are not warm weather schools. They have just invested in the baseball programs.

Maine University says cold weather is no problem.

Majority of success was when regionals meant regional teams together. One post season berth since 2012?

They play hard and I’m old enough to remember then having success but this isn’t the spotlight team you think it is.

I find it very, very hard to believe Texas baseball has a $9 million NIL budget. I'd like to see any source on that. Also, UTSA acting like poors with a $800k budget - probably way more than Nebraska is working with.

How about several rich alums spent a combined one million on a female softball player. Winking

I wonder how much Jordy Bahl makes in comparison and yes I know it isn’t one million.
All I'm saying is Texass has a very big, very wealthy group of alumni and boosters. Those arrogant pricks will pay big money to win a National title. In any sport.

So we lost game 7 in Baton Rouge last night. Went to 9th down run and LSU scored 3 to win 10-6. My son got the start for Little Rock, left with 5-1 lead after 3. Incredible experience!!

College baseball championship is the best in NCAA sports
What a wild and unexpected ride over the last few weeks. I’ll bet that was all sorts of fun.

I watched none of that game and I only coached baseball for two years...but my opinion is that baseball coaches pull pitchers way too often.

The kid is not tired, his arm is not tired, the other team doesn't have him "figured out".

Wow, Arizona 4-3 over NC!

Maybe the Wildcats are Omaha's adopted team?
Roy Williams must not have been there today (since they didn't show him 5,000 times).

Roy's watching at home thinking, "Our baseball players prolly spend way too much time goin' to class."

Without arguing over the definition of "warm weather school", all of those schools have better baseball weather than Nebraska. The first two scheduled games in Nebraska were canceled due to weather (March 4 and 5, the first being on an all-turf field at Omaha). First played game at Nebraska was March 8.

Vanderbilt's first home game was Feb 17, Tennessee's was Feb 14, neither were cancedled. Nebraska wouldn't dream of scheduling home games that early. Kentucky and WV are the closest to Nebraska weather wise (but still warmer), and their first scheduled home games were Feb 25 and Feb 26 respectively.

Those 2-3 weeks also means they are getting outside at least that much earlier (and probably more) for practice.

I don't care to argue about it either aa I played college baseball in that area. The first college game I pitched was 29 degrees. The weather is a crutch. Kentucky, Vandy, Tennessee, and West Virginia have shit weather from late Feb though March yet they don't seem to have a problem fielding very good teams. These schools sucked for years until they decided they wanted to invest in the programs.

Murray State may very well wind up being Omaha’s adopted team this year
