Currently, we are over the limit by 11 scholarships, how

is the coaching staff going to cull this down to 85?
Natural attrition, pulling scholarships, asking guys to go on NIL; discuss.
In the past normal attrition after spring has been 9-10 guys. Some could be taken off the roster and go on a non-football scholarship. If they want to continue to play they can explore other options. Some will have graduated and choose to move on. One of Frank’s issues was that he was never aggressive enough with his roster management. It was as if we were under a perpetual NCAA Scholarship penalty

There's a huge exodus coming again after Spring/Spring Semester timeframe. And if all else fails, yes kids could go off scholarship and get paid through NIL if really necessary. Scholarship limits are a joke IMO for rich schools these days.

IF they go off of a football scholarship they are removed from the roster due to B1G rules. Who knows if some of the guys coming in are going to be strIctly NIL players and not count towards the 85.

Yes, it's the new incoming guys that would be paid by NIL instead of scholarship.

It will work itself out. After Spring ball guys will see the writing on the wall and will leave or be asked to leave. In fact, I think we will still take around 5 more guys from the portal. I’m not into naming which players should probably go, but if you look at the roster we have a lot of guys that have been here for years that have little hope of seeing the field, probably best to go find a place where they can.

Need to move fast, seeing more good players in the portal I hope they kick the tires on.

Agree with others. ThiS is all about having spring tryouts, and coach has the ability to remove players who don’t choose to leave on their own.

Maximizing competition with roster spots on the line is our best case scenario.

Need to keep some of the youngsters who still show promise even if they need more time to develop. But I don’t think it will be difficult for coaches to determine who’s a baller.

The question is if we have enough ballers at ALL positions (DL I’m looking at you).

I think fans are going to have to realize that a new era is taking place and those that can't do the work will have to find a new place to lounge at. Yes we have some who are on scholarship who don't deserve to be on them and this thing will work it's self out pretty quick. People shouldn't be too upset when some of the kids decide to move on regardless of their former star power, the writing will be on the wall.

I can easily find 12 that should move on. And we will have at least that many move on between now and after spring ball.
What I couldn’t stand was for the past 15 years or so, we gave out like 5-8 schollys to walk ons each Fall… which is idiocy.
