The last 14 quarters, the defense has only given up 2 touchdowns. Incredible. Nice work Diaco, and keep it up blackshirts!!
Competition has sucked, but lately, Nebraska has made even the worst look like heisman candidates. So I'll take it.The last 14 quarters, the defense has only given up 2 touchdowns. Incredible. Nice work Diaco, and keep it up blackshirts!!
Just looking quickly over the seasons, without checking if the TD was given up by the defense, it's the first since the 2012 game against Michigan, they scored 9 on 3 field goals. South Alabama scored 9 a few years ago, but it was a field goal and a TD with a missed XP.First game since 2012 without giving up a TD??? Did I read that right?
yes they have played great very encouragingThe last 14 quarters, the defense has only given up 2 touchdowns. Incredible. Nice work Diaco, and keep it up blackshirts!!
Damnit. Why'd we have to lose to NIU? This season looks a lot different if we just take care of business there. ****.
Back to back games holding the opponent under 200 yards. When is the last time that happened?
As you pointed out, the competition hasn't been good and there is fool's gold from this Illinois game on both sides of the ball IMO. The defense is certainly more capable of competing with the better teams but I'm very concerned with our CBs and the cushion they give. Good teams will pick that apart. The OL will not hold up against Wiscy, OSU or PSU and we will see Lee pressured into mistakes again. I hope I'm wrong but trying to view the team as it actually is instead of some fantasy run at a B1G West title. The competition may not be great, but at least they are handling the opponents like they should be!
To me, the offense doesn't seem like they can put a lot of points on the board when needed and that will be the team's downfall.
With that said, we will learn a lot about our DC against Wiscy, OSU, and PSU.
Great 14 quarter stretch! Good job defense and coach Diaco. Earning back the D is his name![]()

Yes, the defense has looked improved but we need to keep in mind the offenses we have been playing. iirc, they said Rutgers & Illinois offenses we're ranked about 109 & 110, or something like that. We'll have a better idea where we stand after the next few games against quality opponents. The last 14 quarters, the defense has only given up 2 touchdowns. Incredible. I’d hope to God our coaches expect the same thing and have game plans for Lee to have no time. Teams have to adjust to this all the time and pull it off. Lee won’t be able to do 5-7 step drops against Badgers, PSU, OSU or even Iowa. I fully expect us to game plan for that In a big way. So relax, we should be fine.
One of the announcers during the Husker game said Riley runs a west coast offense where the QB needs to get rid of the ball right away.
Is this true? Is Riley's pro-style offense a west coast offense?
If it is a west coast style, then Lee definitely does way too many deep drops and takes way too much time to pass it.
I too really hope they have a plan for Lee to get the ball out quickly on most pass plays so he is not hurried into throwing more INTs. That is a huge worry still for this offense.
I love your last two sentences... made me laugh out loud!![]()
