With rainy weather in San Antonio, the East team practiced this morning at the Alamodome and the West team practiced in the afternoon. Here's some notes from my time on the sidelines watching both practices.

- Four-star wide receiver signee Cortez Mills has had a great week, but today was his best showing to date. In individual drills, he's been consistent and smooth, and takes coaching really well, adjusting routes and making tweaks to his game as coaches make comments. In the scrimmage portion, by my count he got open on every single route he ran. He's especially crafty at the second and third levels, utilizing footwork to hold defensive backs for the split second needed to run past them. He showed good tracking ability downfield today. This week has somewhat exposed a few recievers who aren't natural hands catchers, that's not the case with Mills who utilizes his large hands and rangy wingspan to secure balls away from his body consistently before bringing them in. He does a lot of the 'little stuff' really well.

- Got eyes on 2026 Buford (Ga.) four-star defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright today. Powerful lineman in a somewhat compact 6-foot-3, 260 pound frame. Going up against a good group of offensive lineman, flashed quickness, power and footwork. He has to add some more to his pass rush package, but really like the combination of traits he has. Nebraska had him on campus this past season, but amidst defensive staff changes there's some ground to be made up on the likes of Georgia, Miami, USC, Texas A&M and Clemson. Still the Buford connection has the Huskers maintaining something of a presence.

- Another good day for four-star linebacker signee Christian Jones. Like I said yesterday, the key for him this week was to see how his athleticism translated against fellow Power Four prospects. He's looked smooth going through drills alongside other linebackers, has better hands than most because he played some WR at Westside and he changes directions with ease. Once again, in 11-on-11 he took the physicality to offensive lineman, and his motor has impressed throughout the week. Not making waves like prospects at other positions, but he's checking the boxes he needed to this week.

- Texas and Baylor are the favorites, but Nebraska is lingering for 2026 San Antonio (Tex.) Madison four-star wide receiver Jordan Clay, who's every bit of 6-foot-3, 200+ pounds. Tracks the ball well, held up really well against senior defensive backs, especially in contested catch situations. Fits what Dana Holgorsen and Daikiel Shorts Jr. are looking for in an outside reciever. There's ground to be made up, but beating out Texas for priority targets hasn't scared Shorts off in the past.
